I visited HK for the first time about a month ago for a couple days on a return trip from Malaysia. I enjoyed the food and the culture, but I think the climate around most of the metropolitan areas are unbearably stuffy sometimes.. it's like a small room crammed full of people with the window closed.
But the MTR and the Octopus cards and etc were absolutely brilliant
For good fast food Hong Kong style, try Cafe de Coral.
When I went to HK in October 2011, I went to this place for lunch a few time. You get a huge deep fried pork chop, with veggies, rice, and your choice of tea (lemon tea, milk tea) all for $5 CAD.
You order your food, get a number, and wait for your number to be displayed on an electronic ticker tape sign.
For nightlife, I highly recommend going to Lan Kwai Fong, near the Central district of Hong Kong. Great bars and restaurants there. Stormies and Zinc are great bars to go for drinks. Bands belt out good music at Insomnia.

you do not always wait for the number.
if you don't get a number on your ticket - go to the other line and hand your ticket to the food handler. they will rip it in half, put it on a tray and you will follow said tray and count your items as they get put on the tray.
and seriously? they have reviews of Cafe De Corals? it's like reviewing Tim Horton's!!
So many good cheap places to get food in HK... if you're here on a limited time, the last thing you should be doing is going to Cafe de Coral and places like it. Actually I haven't been to those kinds of places in years.. the food quality is HORRIBLE, it's not even a good deal. Might as well go to Mac Donalds.
I just remember getting BBT from some hole in the wall place just outside one of the MTR exits in Mongkok. I couldn't believe there was a lineup for it and it cost like $1 cdn and it was good.

should of been more specific, clothes, sunglasses. Not electronics. And is there cheap supplements cheaper than popeyes over there i can bring back to canada?
Clothing also depends on what kind you want. For brands, go to causeway bay and TST. Supplements are about 3-10 x the price of Canada so don't count on that.
As a tourist, I took the train out to the big mall near the airport. Shopping was pretty good, not as good as the 202 premium outlets. They had a Nike Outlet there.
Besides that, all the other shopping places I went to didn't suit my needs.

i was told to check out din tai fung since the seattle(bellingham) one had mexicans making xiao long bao and was alright.... they even told me to get some scramble eggs at a lineup place. Also this place called sevva for the sight and food/fusioon. So i am going to causeway bay, TST for shopping, anymore
To me, Causeway bay and TST shopping was over rated.
Din Tai Fung in HK was the first time I tried it and I have very happy with the food, then we went to Seattle and well.... yeah Mexican's making xiao long bao haha...

You got played my friend, the one opening in Vancouver is Ding Tai Fung and the sign on it says it's from Shanghai. The real one is called "Din" Tai Fung and is from Taiwan. Typical trying to fake people out.
Tried the one in Bellevue recently and it was pretty good.

when you stroll the streets you might encounter some very seductive ads outside buildings. If you looking for a good time.... walk right in.....
I know a place thats like a used camera gear walmart on the ground floor but the whole apartment above it is hookers
and have a laugh at the tutor kings and queens on the ads on walls and buses, could've been one of your asian classmates that was in ESL class
