Calling all 240sx owners!! Hey guys, right now I'm considering whether to get the 240sx for my next car. But I got a few question first... 1. How is fuel consumption in the city? 2. Is insurance that high for Vancouver? 3. Are parts easy to find for this car? 4. And lastly, how is the steering in the car? Can you feel the road through the wheel? I know for a fact that the car isn't cheap to maintain, relative to say an integra gsr. But is the margin by much? Not try to start another 240sx vs integra gsr thread. Thanks in advance for all your input guys. |
1. pretty good if its NA and unmolested. mines running in top shape and fuel economy is great 2. insurance is cheap lol 3. yes, allot of people selling through craigslist. 4. its a old sports car lol, my s13 is good as long as the tires are properly inflated btw who told you that they arent cheap to maintain.... its only for people who beat on them non-stop. Mine is babied and hasn't done much lol |
an integra gsr isnt cheap to maintain? lol wut? what car you drive now |
Oh thanks for the quick reply, and I always remembered that the parts and other miscellaneous stuff was more expensive than parts for integras and such. I plan to daily drive the car, so I'm hoping to be able to quickly find parts when a problem arises. The car probably won't see track days or autocrossing either, so maybe the running cost won't we as high as I expected. :concentrate: |
make sure u check the history!!!! |
sorry if it was abit misleading, but what I meant to say was that the GSR can be pretty expensive to maintain, but compared to the 240sx, the 240 would be a be more expensive to run. And I currently drive an e46 325i, but I can't afford to drive it anymore. Too many problems and guzzles way tooo much gas for the amount of power it has. |

:suspicious: buy a s13 with original motor and one that has under 200,000kms ( like mine) make sure it has somewhat of a good history and check to see if its well maintained just gonna let u know now that the ka24 isint that powerful but will save u more gas then the e46 lol |
Definitely will check the history. Oh btw the msg you quoted was actually directed to fafine lol. But anyways, I understand that the KA24 isn't the muscliest but it will sure get the job done for me. Gotta like that iron block. :ahwow: |

240's are no better or worse than any other car as far as reliability. Like any car, it all depends on how well it has been maintained. I was told by people that they have problems with lifters and other things, but I still bought one anyway. I've had mine for over 2 years now and never had anything break down. Runs like a top, gets great mileage, and it's fun to drive. What more could you want? |
my old 240 was horrible on gas :lol dunno what was wrong with it but i kept smelling gas inside the car and i was getting around 300 to a tank trying to drive slow. glad i got rid of it |
1: i get 350-400 KM a tank 2: ~1800 2mil liability/collision/fire theft vandalism 3: its a 240... Parts are everywhere 4: Yes |
1. Its good not like honda civic but if youre running a ka its normal 2. I pay $152/month mainly cuz i have my N 3. Very, there's so many of them around and a crashed drift car always comes up now and then so you can get parts from them. 4. I like the steering and depends on coils you get and how stiff they are |
Common problems with the 240sx's in my experience were the lifters, injectors, and synchros. It would always grind from 1->2->3 gear. I tried doing double clutching but it still grinds. Posted via RS Mobile |
