Those are super cool cars!
If they ever release a TRD blown, or STi turbo version, I may have to join your exclusive little club.

:D

MrGoodbar 06-14-2012 10:06 AM

Look at this douchebag's white FRS. The owner must be a asshole....

jACEDesignsLtd 06-14-2012 11:13 AM

Pardon my newbie-ness. Stuff I've come across, that I honestly didn't know:

- The FR-S has "Prius" tires. Intentionally.
- The auto FR-S has a torque-converter automatic transmission based on the IS-F.
- The low tone at start up is due to the design of the boxer engine.
- The weird logo on the fender says "86", after the AE86.
- The car is sold as a standard price, no other options. ?keeps the price consistent

correct above, or add your info

MrGoodbar 06-14-2012 11:42 AM

I'm curious about what you did with your rear lights. It's not the regular chromy looking rear lights and it's redded out. What did you do to change this?

Seen a couple being test driven around the Coquitlam area. Most likely open road Port Moody. Friend test drove one the other day and I tagged along. Glad to see some on the street.

Waiting for the first idiot to pull up beside me and rev their engine :/

Araaadi 06-14-2012 07:40 PM

I have a test drive on June 23 at 5pm. I am very excited.

this is the only one that need some addition to it

Horizontal piston design is for Boxer engine thats a given
86 for AE86 but is also a nod to the bore and stroke of the engine
The 86 itself represent 4 wheels in drifting motion

Fell in love with this thing at the toronto autoshow, I knew it was going to be a huge hit. Red tails look great!

death_blossom 06-16-2012 07:49 AM

also, there is a local machine shop that is already developing parts for the FT86!
it is done by Adam, proprieter of the AMT machine shop. he is the guy that regularly comes to the official RS meets with his custom green trike.

Actually ft86 is just the concept name the chassis code is ZN6. Yes its a Toyota that uses a Subaru chassis code.

Or at least this is what we discussed over at the ft86 forums

jACEDesignsLtd 06-16-2012 12:46 PM

Just so that I'm on the same page, are we calling it the GT-86 or FT-86?
2013 Toyota GT 86 - Top Speed

Nlkko 06-16-2012 04:10 PM

Correct name is just Toyota 86 but you can call it whatever you want.

Mr.Jay 06-16-2012 05:01 PM

yeah call it whatever I'm calling my a 86 since FT86 is the concept name "Future Toyota" is what the ft stands for

Japan: 86
Euro: GT86
NA: FRS

We missed out on some cool emblems tho I would of prob taken them off anyways

I stand corrected. I was at the Regency Scion last Saturday for their launch party. I was actually looking for the stamped chassis coding plate as I wanted to confirm its official chassis code, but couldn't find it.

after talking to a fellow AE86 owner in the industry, he said that this car is pretty much a Subaru with Toyota/Scion badging. lots of little things on how the car is built/assembled is all Subaru style. from the 5x100 lug pattern, to hose clamps and fasteners, they are all Subaru style. it is assembled in a Subaru plant as well.

Nlkko 06-16-2012 09:42 PM

It's Toyota's design. Also tuned to how Toyoda wanted.

Mr.Jay 06-16-2012 09:57 PM

Toyota did pitch the idea and build the 1st concept but here is the team break down for those responsible for the developmental of the 86

Key developers on the "TEAM 86" project:
T. Tada - chief engineer Toyota
F. Ito - Product Planning 86 Project Subaru
A. Takada - Product Planning/Marketing Division, Toyota
T. Furukawa - Exterior Design, Toyota Design Group
K. Kido - Exterior Design/Toyota Creative Studio
T. Noda - Body/Product Management - Subaru
M.Toyama - Group Manager, Design Toyota
Y. Hayashi - Interior Design, Toyota Design Group
H. Kishi - Engine Management Systems R&D 86 Project Subaru
T. Okamoto - New Engine Development - Toyota Advanced Engine Design
M. Otani - Engine Development Toyota
K. Watanabe - Engine Development - Toyota
K. Nakamura - Product Management - Engine Group Toyota
T. Ishikawa - Manual Transmission Development Aisin AI
T. Kaino - Manual Transmission Development
H. Tomomatsu - 6 sp Automatic Development, Toyota
M. Takagi - Advanced Testing Driver - Toyota
Y. Sasaki - Chassis Development
A. Osaka - Chief Driving Test Engineer
H. Kishi - Aftermarket Product Planning Division, Sport Vehicle Management
K. Okino - Aftermarket Product Division, Toyota

decent split if you ask me.

I like to think of the 86 as a RWD Type R built by Subaru using Toyota's money

5x100 don't remind me blah
