I wouldn't say he hasn't proved it. Skinner was the youngest player in the NHL during the 2010–11 season when he got 31 goals. He's also the youngest player ever to play in the NHL All Star Game. Granted he's young, but he's proven he can be an eilte player.

For better or for worse? Does she still have blonde hair?

MR_BIGGS 08-09-2012 06:41 AM

Looks like Greg Jamison is VERY close to securing final investors and that the sale will get done. This could point to Doan staying in Phoenix or further delaying his decision.

Ronin 08-09-2012 09:35 AM

Worse. She looks quite a bit older with the red hair but maybe just the pic I saw.

Work stoppage could curtail the winter classic along with HBO's 24/7 on the Wings and Leafs. These are the two teams it's on isn't it?

Good move by NHL to let the NHLPA know they will get locked out..Do not want to see a season like the MLB 1994 season. Donald Fehr is a fucker.

Mike Oxbig 08-09-2012 05:35 PM

:suspicious:what happened in 1994 with MLB, nobody is a baseball fan here

they proceeded with the 94 season but could not come to terms and decided to lock out mid-season. sucks even more for canadians because the montreal expos were like a top team that year but we'll never know if they would have won it all.

RRxtar 08-09-2012 05:58 PM

the taste of the last lockout isnt out of most of our mouths yet. the nhl would be foolish to allow/cause another lockout already. the last lockout changed the game (for the better). and sort of ushered in the new modern era (the post lockout era) of the game. new rules, new salaries, new logo even. but it wont happen again.

too many people were seriously frustrated the last time. its taken a few years for markets to recover and everything for the NHL from viewership to revenue has been heading up. if there is another lockout i dont think it will go as well this time, and the NHL is going to take a massive hit.

They have 37 days to get their shit straight. This is obviously a scare tactic by Bettman, but he may just be playing hardball. Would he jeopardize the momentum and $$$ the NHL gets from the Winter Classic and HBO series?

This could be Bettman’s third work stoppage with the NHL. Not exactly something you want on your resume.

So the thought of a work stoppage brought up an interesting question to me. If the league was shut down for one year, what will be the order of the draft the following year?

So I did a quick Google search:

Quote:

A lockout cancelled the games of the 2004–05 NHL season, the draft order was determined by lottery. Teams were assigned 1 to 3 balls based on their playoff appearances and first overall draft picks from the past three years. According to the draft order, the selection worked its way up to 30 as usual; then instead of repeating the order as in past years, the draft "snaked" back down to the team with the first pick. Therefore the team with the first pick overall would not pick again until the 60th pick. The team with the 30th pick would also get the 31st pick. The new CBA reduced the draft to seven rounds in length, compared to nine rounds in years past.
The Pittsburgh Penguins won the draft lottery and, as expected, selected Sidney Crosby. Note that this upcoming year, the draft is deep as hell.
Three balls

• Buffalo Sabres,
• Columbus Blue Jackets
• New York Rangers
• Pittsburgh Penguins

Two balls

• Mighty Ducks of Anaheim
• Atlanta Thrashers
• Calgary Flames
• Carolina Hurricanes
• Chicago Blackhawks
• Edmonton Oilers
• Los Angeles Kings
• Minnesota Wild
• Nashville Predators
• Phoenix Coyotes

Wow, how different things would be if Columbus got the first pick. Some say the draft was rigged.
