And why do you think hes been successful? Anyone anchored by the sedins is bound to look good on the stats sheet. Im not saying burr isnt a good player, just that his stats are jacked up because he plays on the sedin line.
I havent read much news and I just saw garrison will be wearing #5 eh. So atleast the canucks are giving fans a chance to recycle their jersey if they had ehrhoff jersey before lol. Same went for kassian (hodgson). I wudnt be surprised if the player we trade for Lu wears #1. Lol.

Any of you guys starting to worry about the situation with Lu?
I hope the rumours of him going to Toronto after the CBA is dealt with are not true unless we get a 1st rounder for 2013 in that deal. Even then, not a lot of roster players I like, excluding Gardiner.
If he isn't traded before the season starts, I can't help but think that Luongo will be relaxed and loose when he enters camp. I think Gillis gains leverage the longer he waits. GMs know what they are getting with Luongo, but they aren't offering the moon because they don't have to right now. Even if he starts off slow during the season, he's a proven elite goalie. As other goalies are not proven like him, the Florida's and Toronto's of the world will soon realize they need better goaltending when/if they shit the bed. Yes it creates a short-term awkwardness for the team, but it's a veteran group.

I tihnk Gillis should hold out for what ever his name is for Flordia, out of all of the players out there he's one I would love to see in a nucks uniform.

No, I'm not worried about the Luongo trade situation at all because the bigger concern for our beloved Canucks is a prolonged lockout and possibility of a condensed schedule.
After I read the NHLPA's counter proposal to accept a smaller cut of league revenues and increased revenue sharing, I think Fehr's offer makes sense long term for the NHL.
-help out the teams that are financially struggling, and accept a lower cut of revenues instead of the crazy owner's proposal to cut the player's take of revenues even more.
I heard Trevor Linden get interviewed on Team1040 a couple of months ago saying that he would not be surprised if the season started in December.
A shortened season with the league trying to cram in as many games as possible, with back to back games for all teams hurts the Canucks big time.
-Road trip travel is already the most gruelling for this team already.
Gillis's time window for trading Luongo gets bigger if the season starts late. There would be less urgency to trade Luu, and also more time for Kesler to heal from surgery.
-gonna be really angry at Bettman and the owners if a shortened season happens. -flaming e-mails to Bettman!

That's weird.... on Team 1040 I swear I heard him say he was going the #5, and then said the Canucks organization led him to a lower number and he said change was good..

Nope. The only problem I see with Lu is if he stays, what kind of damage he will bring to the locker room/chemistry. But if Gillis said the relationship between Lu and Schneids and the rest are really that good, I don't think there is any problems. + we can use Lu's cap space for other players
Right now, we have two #1 goalies locked up for 3 years. I think that enough time for Gillis to find a good trade for Lu.
Lu isn't forcing Gillis to trade like Nash is. If the Toronto rumours are true, Gillis lied about wanting similar quality type players back.
The only problem I have with Lu sticking around is it means $5.3m is tied up that could be spent somewhere else (Doan?).
I think the speculation about trouble in the locker room and all that is just the fans and media talking about shit they dont know about. Honestly, who really knows what goes on behind the scenes?
I would actually like to see Lu and Cory tandem it up another year. Imagine if the season starts in December, does that mean we skip October Lu and get December-March Lu right from the start?
The only thing that worries me is that it seems Luongo's only capable of getting back unproven prospects.
Sure, it may help if these prospects pan out in a few years, but it doesn't bring us any closer to the cup.
Only replaces those that will decline later (if we're lucky).
I was never super excited about a trade, only because it was quite obvious early in the summer
that no one's offering much for Luongo right now. Maybe later in the season when other teams get more desperate.
I have no problem with waiting.

Simmonds has one 20+ goal year and has never scored more than 50 points. Burrows has averaged nearly 30 goals in the last 4 years and consistently scored above 50 points. With the current contracts being handed out, Burr would get big money on the open market.
Wayne Simmonds is also 24, Burr is 31. I think Burr would slot right in the 4M range. If he was demanding he could ask for more since he took a big discount on his current contract, but he's a smart guy and knows he's feeding off 2 of the best players in the league. Maybe he'll settle for a long term 3-3.5M/yr contract to the end of his career.

The PA's counter proposal is only valid for 3 years, year 4 reverts to the current system. I recall reading that they would be giving up to 465M over the 3 yrs with their proposal. With the owners' proposal, the PA claims they would be giving up 450M per year, so if those numbers are accurate, that is a HUGE gap. Its hard to sympathize with the owners as a group, the current contract is what they wanted and the revenues have grown in the last 7 years so the rich have gotten a lot richer. The players have also not suffered at all during this time period. So it looks like the only losers are the small market owners and the major issue in a nutshell is whether it will be the rich owners or the players that will bail out the small market teams.

I like Doan, but if he's going to cost 7.5M for the next 4 years Phoenix or whoever can keep him. I don't think keeping Lu with the Canucks until even the trade deadline will be toxic as many have suggested. Everybody in the room knows whats up, Lu knows he'll get moved when the time is right, he's not going to go around and stir up trouble. The better Lu performs while still in a Canucks uniform, the sooner he'll be moved to get his starter role back.
