It had nothing to do with a cup, it was finally beating the hawks, your nemesis, after they had walked all over us in the past and to be up three nothing then be forced to a game 7 against your most hated rivals and FINALLY overcome them. Posted via RS Mobile

I know. Still not dragon-worthy
Just my opinion is all... I'll absolutely agree to disagree on this one
Kevin bieksa's twitter:
" Well deserved Burr! Your right @Ryan_Kesler maybe we'll see him out for a dinner on the road instead of eating Subway in his room saving $."

I'm not a Canucks fan but I agree with you %100. Kinda hard to say they slayed the dragon when when the Blackhawks roster was pretty much a shadow of the one the year before. Sure, they beat the "team", but they didn't beat the players that did them in.

THE ROCK: "What's your favorite donut?"
DETECTIVE #2: "Jelly."
THE ROCK: "Oh, you like jelly. Well, jelly's a good one. The Rock says this; write this down. When you leave here, go down to Dunkin Donuts, get the biggest jelly donut you can find!"
(crowd pops louder)
LAWLER: "Oh, no... this guy's a COP!"
THE ROCK: "Write it down. Hold that jelly donut up, SQUEEZE all the jelly out, squeeze all the-- write it down; you like writing things down-- squeeze all the jelly out, and then-- write this down, you don't want to forget this-- TURN that sumbitch sideways, and stick it STRAIGHT UP your CANDY ASS!"
That OT goal vs Bruins is painful to watch now, knowing what happened after that.
I'm gonna be honest. I have all 7 Finals games on my PC and once in a while I'll watch the Game 1 and 2 OT winners and for a moment still believe fuck yea we are going to win our first cup! Then after a few minutes reality sets in and I get all

Shorty made the dragon comment because all the local sports media were referring to them as the dragon before the series started. 1040 morning, mid day, afternoon show hosts were all saying that the Canucks had to "Slay the dragon that is the Chicago Blackhawks" pretty much every day.
Not that 1040 is repetitive or anything...

The #NHL has announced there will be NO bargaining with the union today. 9 pm deadline to agree on new CBA or lockout will be in effect
177 contracts were handed out after July 1st, combining to a total of 1.5billion (excluding Kane)
of the 177, 38 were worth more than 10m, and 21 being over 20m
18 players made a combined 250m in salary in the past 7 days(their tweet says 219m, but Evander Kane just signed 6yrs for 31mil)
projected 1.795billion of lost salary this season for the Players
Don't know how much the league will lose
I saw this in the elevator news ticker in my building, Canucks front office staff will take a 20% pay cut, but with that comes less work. I actually know a few people affected by this, whether they are host, parking or actual front office.
So its not just about real hockey fans, people that depend on the sport(aside from the players) do need the NHL to be operating at 100% in order to make a living.
It has a trickling effect on the local economy as business will take a dive.
i feel really bad for the staff at the arena, having worked there prior to the 04 lockout and into it, pay took a big dive as there were no events meaning no shifts.

This...
As someone here mentioned earlier, what a joke, a bunch of billionaires whining with a bunch of millionaires.

A lot of businesses are affected by the lockout. Liquor stores, bars, jersey/retail stores, cabs, restaurants, etc.
For the last 2 years I've been going down to the states to catch some games, did Phx the first year and SoCal teams last year. Was hoping to get to do the New York teams this season, that's gonna happen anymore...
