If so then Plan B for the Canucks will be removing raymond and malhotra?

bozak faceoff is 52.7% vs malhotra 58.5%

No one wants Raymond

And we'll probably keep Malholtra till his contract ends and he'll end up being part of the organization/retire

That is a shit trade. Trade away our 1C (I know he's more of a 3C) and our potential future 1C, while the team has long needed a true 1C. On top of that they take on that ridiculous Luongo contract while cap space is at a premium considering a possible lowered cap with a new CBA and numerous UFA's becoming available after this season (ie: Getzlaf, Perry, etc).

Let's be honest about the value.
^ Kadri is not a potential 1C. He does not have the defensive acumen needed for that role because his face-off % is not at a level it should be. He's better as an edgy LW. Bozak has done all he's been asked to, but you just know he's not going to be #1C for long. I actually think Colborne is better suited as 1C or even Tony Camaranesi since he's tearing it up in the NCAA. However, I do see Kadri in the top six on the leafs as an effective LW because he is looking really good with Frattin in the AHL.

Here is why I do not think this trade is happening. Canucks need immediate pieces and their center depth is cup worthy. Bozak is really more of a complementary player: can do okay in top six, and has defensive acumen, but is not a specialist in any area per se. He is really a 3rd line centre as stated. A lot of non-leaf fans overlook kadri, but he has not really been given an opportunity to shine in toronto. He shared minutes with connolly, but connolly was not at his best last season. At this point, Kadri is still an enigmatic prospect and he is young. He is getting PPG in the AHL atm and has shown brilliance in the shootout, but I just see him frustrated in the canucks system because he needs top six minutes. In terms of assets, Canucks would be getting a 3rd line center and 2nd line LW
for an all-star goaltender. I honestly think the Canucks should be able get a #2-3 defensemen or a first line winger, or draft picks for Luongo.

I'm surprised Canucks are not going after the Columbus Blue Jackets. They have better assets in Brassard, Savard, Erixon, Johansen (2010 was a weak draft), can maybe pull off a Luongo for Ryan Murray.

ALso, I'm one of the few leaf fans who postulate that Leafs need a shutdown defensemen a lot more than a 1C seeing as how leafs were 10th in goals for. I understand a 1C is needed to counterbalance the loss of Wilson's offensive system, but I expect to see the Defense to generate more offense from the back end with the arrival of Rielly and whoever leafs draft in 2013. That 264 GA is not going to get fixed with just Carlyle's system and I see Burke going hard for Stastny as he is a left shooting center.

You guys already have a potential 1C in van Riemsdyk

And do you really think Perry or Getzlaf would sign in Toronto?

Something called a NTC that Lu has.

Highly doubt he'd waive it to go to fucking COLUMBUS

Why would he want to go to Toronto?
^ Columbus has made improvements in their prospect pool (David Savard and Erixon, John Moore) and the environment is much more favourable since it's a similar market to Florida. Their defense will get better and they have 3 picks in the 2013 draft, who many peg to be better than 2012. Dubinsky is still a 50 pt top 6 player and they got anisimov. Sure columbus doesn't have legit 1st line players, but their defense is coming along. I'm basing my argument off prospects, but these prospects have done quite well in their small NHL stints.

You also have to keep in mind that Toronto is a harsh market to play in. It's much worse than Vancouver. He's not going to have the mental longevity to last there. Statistically, Luongo is decent in the central division (Detroit, St Louis and Chicago during reg season). I'm not saying Luongo should get traded to Columbus, but rather he may do better there.

Luongo doesn't need to win a cup in TO to be a hero, if he got them to the playoffs he'd be god to leafs fans

Like I said to my buddies who live in TO in the summer, funny how all Canucks fans are just kinda like lol get whatever you can for Lu just get him out of here, while the leafs fans are salivating at our "table scraps" lol

My belief is that the deal is done in principle. But doesn't mean MG won't listen to other offers, esp if for whatever reason Bjugstad becomes available.

Both Sedins & Higgins were out at the UBC Thunderbirds game on Saturday night signing autographs for the fans during the first intermission. Didn't bother sticking around for the game, basically paid $10 just to get in and get some gear signed.

JVR is not a center at this stage in his career and I'm not looking forward to seeing this experiment pu
t into practice - unless it works out. I no longer have pactience for reliance on hopes and dreams with this team when it comes to players. Relying on Reimer and Gus as a tandem was the last straw. Granted if Reimer had stayed healthy and that moron RW hadn't constantly killed any chance of Gus building a hot streak, they might have made the playoffs. If they had simply re-signed Giggy, they would have had the extra insurance of a vet presence capable of stealing a game or two. Back to JVR, I want a bonafide center. If he was successful at the wing at the nhl level, he should stick wirh what got him that success. BB should not be looking at JVR as a final solution and shouldn't stop looking.

The Leafs will have $18 mil in cap space available after this season with Conn, Mac, Lombo, and Lupul off the books. They will re-sign Lupul but they will still have a lot of room. Getzlaf and Perry would likely love to play together where they sign. Leafs can afford them, are close to playoff competitiveness, and have the coach and GM who helped bring them a cup, and former ducks teammates. Burke knows what he is getting with Getzlaf/Perry and should press hard to get them. Do I think it will happen? Stranger things have happened and Burke isn't one to shy away from big moves.

As for Luongo, few Leaf fans are drooling over Luongo. If its an exchange of shit contracts then sure, otherwise no thanks. There are plenty of better goalie options out there and I want to see what Reimer can do fully recovered from his concussion. Luongo is very good and I would welcome him if the cost isn't to high. It's hard for Gillis to ask a high price with a massive contract like that, especially when you're willing to replace him in a playoff series with an unproven goalie, willing to trade him not long after giving him a 12 year contract, and have people in here refering to him as table scraps. I still beleive its a better move for the canucks to keep him and trade Schneider since he's easier to move, valued higher, and his carreer could go either way since he is still relatively unproven.
