Putting a lemur in front of a microphone would be better than Lee

Presale for first 4 games. The code is

Mark Lee is straight garbage.

Reports: NHL, NHLPA agree to accelerated compliance buyouts

they altered the rules to the buyout so looks like redden and/or gomez may have a chance of playing this year if their teams can stomach paying their salary for the year to get rid of them sooner.

Player is paid 100% of his salary this year and 2/3 or 1/3 as applicable in future years. No cap charge from 2013/14 and beyond.
So its official, Redden and Gomez can be bought out now making them UFAs, but cap hit will still apply to this season only, not future years tho.

Larry Brooks is reporting Leafs, Sens, Panthers and Bruins have expressed interest in Redden. Wouldn't be a bad depth signing for cheap as your 6-8th Dman.

Canuck LW David Booth out 4-6 weeks with groin strain, says coach AV. #secondlineintatters

Hurt it on Sunday apparently.

Vigneault on Booth's groin injury versus conditioning level: "If anything is an issue, he may have over-trained."

Ronin 01-15-2013 12:20 PM

Can't buy out guys that are injured or Booth would be a candidate. I'm inclined to give him another year though.

Nabatron 01-15-2013 12:41 PM

our second line is going to be all AHL players! Which is not a good start to the season!

kristianhay 01-15-2013 12:49 PM

Topic on the Team 1040 is: Do the Canucks try and sign Gomez for 700-ish-k, for a depth centre man/help fill the hole in the second line? I personally hope not.. but it seems like a Mike Gillis kind of move. Good player in the past, will probably sign for cheap, reclamation project. Think Marco Sturm, Peter Schaefer.

Tim Budong 01-15-2013 12:50 PM

the logical way is to start your 3rd line guys as 2nd line guys
not an AHL top line thats barely gotten a crack at the NHL elite

AV logic

Mike Oxbig 01-15-2013 12:50 PM

700k for clutch playoff performer not sure if serious...

kristianhay 01-15-2013 12:53 PM

^

Well, they suggested 700-1.5m. Their words, not mine.

Gomez should be much better than Sturm or Schaefer, but do we really wanna go down this route again

7seven 01-15-2013 12:54 PM

For cheap, Gomez I think would make a good addition, especially for Canucks given the injuries to Booth and Kes. Gomez is still a pretty good defensively responsible forward and I got to think with his local ties from playing for the Surrey Eagles and Vancouver being the closest NHL city to Alaska, Vancouver might be attractive to him.

Hondaracer 01-15-2013 12:55 PM

Enough with signing this fucking plugs to try and fill spaces, either make a move or give a young guy the shot

Kassian gets his chance to play on the second line. It will be interesting to see what his potential can be as a power forward.

Or plays on the 4th line and Raymond gets the 2nd line...

Ronin 01-15-2013 01:08 PM

I'd sign Gomez for $1m.

spideyv2 01-15-2013 01:13 PM

Let's also sign Redden to a 7 year $1mill per deal and hope he finds his game!

Gomez = Mat Sundin V2.

Sundin actually scores.

We should also sign Shane Kuss his Surrey Eagles team mate and they can bring back the skill together they had :troll:

pure.life 01-15-2013 02:19 PM

Might as well bring back our former first rounder - Josh Holden

Don't you mean Patrick White :troll:

Ronin 01-15-2013 02:36 PM

Gomez was once a good player. Maybe it's in there somewhere. $1m is low risk and there aren't many options out there for our 2nd line.

The Canucks are also a much better team than the Rangers and Canadiens teams he played on.

I mean, we've taken chances on worse for more money in the past...
