You could build a franchise around Subban. What he did in the playoffs in his rookie year was very impressive. Last year was in fact not a great year for him and maybe doesn't warrant a long term deal like he is asking for in the Doughty money range he is also asking for, but he will get it.
Doughty has the same agency representing him as Subban, so this will likely not be resolved until Subban gets a long term deal in the range he wants.
On RDS, his agent said that he advised PK taking a short term deal now is better. It's up to PK now to decide whether or not to follow his agents' advice. I think eventually, Montreal will sign him because with Kaberle and Markov all past their prime and quite injury prone, they can't afford to mess around on their blue line right now. Plus here's a guy that's not shy about the spotlight or the pressure of playing in MTL.

Why is Subban considered such a good D-man? He got 36 points last year which finished him 29th points over-all for a D-man?
I've never understood this. I know Montreal likes him because he's always on TV and seems like a cool guy outside of hockey, but hes barely top 30 in the league.
Subban is trying to cash in on his upside, like Hall and Eberle did this offseason.

You smoking something good. Why would the habs want Lu and Price? Why would gillis want Subban when our top 4 d are signed long term on homer deals with NTCs, esp since Subban wants more money than what we just gave Edler and a long term

The other side to that, if he thinks he's all that, why doesnt he sign a 2-3yr fair current value contract, hit his potential, then cash in huge on his next deal.

36 points, big physical game, quick skater, a little bad defensively but he's still young. Plus he's got a rocket of a shot.
And he's still young. He's putting up good point totals and has enormous potential. He hasn't even reached his prime and already 29th? Don't tell me you forgot there are 180 starting D-men in this league.

As per that last retweet from Jamie Benn's agent, Benn has agreed to terms on a 5 year deal, believed to be worth, $5.25M per year.
Did anyone ever think that maybe PK doesnt like it in Montreal? Maybe he cant stand the French since it's very known that the Quebec French are really rude to English speaking Canadians.
someone else has a ntc but is a subject of numerous trade rumors...
except that someone else publicly stated that he would waive it if he was traded to make way for cory. until bieksa does the same and come out and say that, you can't really lump the two together.
