But where do you draw the line? If every time someone hits one of your top players with a CLEAN hit, you quickly go and try to beat him down "to stand up" for your teammate, then the league might as well just ban hitting all together

Exactly. I think if players do instigate a fight because of a big clean hit, the instigator should be tossed.
It wouldn't eliminate these type of fights, but it would probably reduce it drastically.
I guess it's a fine line. What can you do? I'm not arguing that the hit wasn't clean. If the team ignores the hit, especially if the guy who was hit is your captain and one of your top players, you'll look weak. Respond to the hit and you might take an instigator penalty.

That type of hit... is one of the many reasons why Scott Stevens left a legacy
but this topic is..
I like big clean hits, I like fights. I don't like guys gooning after a guy that throws a big hit. If it's a dirty hit, sure stand up for your teammate. IMO it's not really standing up for your teammate when your teammate makes a sloppy play, has his head down, and serves himself up on a platter.
The thing is, if your teammate, especially your captain or star player gets hit hard like that.
First thing in your mind is to go after the hitter, not think,
"let me see... was that a clean hit or not? Let me take that in consideration before I decide whether to go after that guy..."

yeah I get it, like the odds are O'Byrne never even saw the hit and all he see is his captain laid the fuck out, you going to make a scene regardless so you don't look weak. My issue with him was he basically ran up on stuart from a mile away and had his shield on. I know the game is going to be emotional and all but the double minor he got from that which could have been avoided while getting Stuart to fight, pretty much killed the avs. Until that powerplay SJ had 1 shot on goal and had nothing going for them.

At that point, it doesn't matter if theres a visor on the guy or not
I'm on a DJ forum and someone is doing lighting for their local hockey team in the US and was asking if it's OK to use a fog machine before the game. Here are a couple of answers he got.

I wouldn't bother... and if there is even a chance of it screwing with the ice, I can guarantee you they would not want you screwing around with it before the big game.
Chances are the fog will condense on the ice. Condensation causes heat. Could cause slicks.
Or it might not clear up in time for faceoff... Don't risk it.
and the best:

what do you mean? If he would have taken his helmet off before going to murder Stuart he would have only gotten 2 for instigating right? but it says he got an extra 2 for instigating with a visor on.

the visor rule is new to this season
i think its dumb imo... should be equal with or without
Yakupov's reaction was fine. The fact he was robbed of the tying goal made it reasonable.
However, the fact that he literally ignored and skated through all his teammates to celebrate by himself kinda shows what kind of person he is. Obviously that's gna cause him to be alienated by his own teammates one day.
