The Cy Young Award is an honor given annually in baseball to the best pitchers in Major League Baseball (MLB), one each for the American League (AL) and National League (NL). The award was first introduced in 1956 by Baseball Commissioner Ford Frick in honor of Hall of Fame pitcher Cy Young, who died in 1955. The award was originally given to the single best pitcher in the major leagues, but in 1967, after the retirement of Frick, the award was given to one pitcher in each league.
ESPN is a US network, they don't know shit about hockey, apparently.

I'm glad Luongo is playing so well, but this is nothing unexpected.
This is the same "solid regular season" goalie that we've had for season after season.
Why is everyone suddenly so surprised after a few solid games?
This is the same goalie who many thought choked to death in the playoffs and wanted him hung.
I'm not a diehard Lu fan nor a Lu hater.
But just trying to put some things into perspective.

I think whats different this year is that Loungo isn't the number one guy. He's fighting to keep his job and maybe that will be the difference between the Loungo of the past and now. With the way the Canucks roster is right now I don't see a trade happening this season. Also with Mike Gillis coming on the radio saying he has serious suitors really means he has no immediate trade pending.
Let's face it we need both goalies this season because we have no idea which Ryan Kesler we are getting back and Booth hasn't really panned out.
to put things into perspective, i believe schneids is 1-3 in playoff starts. he hasn't shown that he can be someone you can ride to 16 wins in the playoffs either. i'm actually siding with Gillis on this and feel quite content having both goalies here unless we get a solid package coming back in a trade.
there are teams that have won the cup using a goalie platoon so this is not a bad position to be in. who knows, if only AV had adapted that model in 2011, things might have turned out differently. we'll have to wait and see how things pan out.
Like tim thomas and Tuuka rask in boston, they had to fight for the no.1 spot. Thomas came out and pulled off the best numbers anyone has seen that season and eventually won it all. Yeah he was in full god mode, we all witnessed it.
I always said Ballard was better then people gave him credit for if anyone remembers that lol..
And I love how basically everyone is back on the Lu bandwagon how quickly ppl forget, it's going to look soooooo bad if Lu gets traded and Corey shits the bed Posted via RS Mobile

Whatever it is, just be glad the spots that were not clicking so well before are finally working out.
You guys don't get it. I said cy young because kassian currently has 5 goals 0 assist. So u can say he has a 5-0 record. So for a pitcher that's 5 wins 0 losses. Hopefully that makes more sense Posted via RS Mobile
