No ones saying the refs were out to get us... But some of the calls....

Shitty calls happen in every game, against every team, in every sport. Nobody is out to get the Canucks.

How long did it take Tanev to adapt? Hamhuis? Please. The Canucks aren't running some out this world system that takes a genius to adapt to. It's really the simple defensive plays that Garrison just sucks at.

One could say Hamhuis came already from a defensive minded team, Nashville.
And Tanev, being inexperienced and was on the farm team, he learned the system early?

Just sayin'

I think people are giving these kind of defensemans' too much credit. Yes it's the safe plays but they really also amount to nothing. Just throwing it up the boards to a surely covered winger (since that play is so elementary) is just the same as passing it to the opposite team for a sure-fire turnover.

What you want are defensemans that you have now; defensemens that look to make a play; start a play, make that first pass, make that breakout pass. The problem is, I think people just don't understand that in ANY game, ANY defenseman whether you're a plug or you're Lidstrom himself... you're going to turn it over, and perhaps quite a number of times during the course of a 60 minute game.

Just be glad he's not as bad as Tomas Kaberle in the later years :lol

USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!

lol.

^I don't see a problem with them chanting it. It has nothing to do with the players on the team but the team itself and the opponent.

Is chanting CANADA CANADA really that different from there when our team is full of swedes and a fair amount of americans as well?

we don't look at kesler as an american, we look at him as a canuck.

radioman 02-25-2013 01:15 AM

Then shouldnt they be chanting DETROIT DETROIT DETROIT

RevYouUp 02-25-2013 01:22 AM

lol chanting USA makes them sound like those ignorant fools that keep arguing that USA>Canada

Except we don't chant CANADA (or more correctly GO CANADA GO) at Canucks games. That would be stupid, and it's kind of the point people are making about Wings fans.

fliptuner 02-25-2013 02:16 AM

BINGO

When's the last time you were at a Canucks game and people were cheering for Canada (other than after the anthem)?

What they did is just ignorant.

jeedee 02-25-2013 02:18 AM

Reminds me of the UFC

They start chanting USA USA when an American fighter fights a non American :lawl:

Even that is more acceptable - at least the fighter they are cheering for is American!

BTW the Brazilians are even worse... they chant things like "xxx is a faggot!" at foreign fighters

hotshot1 02-25-2013 07:32 AM

Sooo in hindsight, seems like we should have kept Salo instead of signing Garrison.

7.5m/2 years for an injury prone 37 year old Salo?

Sure ill take Salo.... 5 years ago that is

Man some of you guys are hard on Garrison lol. It took a Norris calibre Weber 15 or so games to record ONE point. Suters also struggling. Heck even our D besides our THIRD PAIRING is struggling.

If you guys are existing Garrison to score 16 goals like last year.... You're going to be really disappointed

Exactly what I said when we signed him, he is going to struggle production wise

but im sorry, the last few games, he looks out of place
and AV isn't exactly too keen on giving players a second chance to redeem themselves too often

Derek_N84 02-25-2013 11:05 AM

This Garrison hate is the same hate people gave Ballard. They had different roles in a different system. All they see are their stats from their previous seasons with a different team, coach, system and then expect them to throw up the same numbers here in Vancouver.

Mike Oxbig 02-25-2013 11:06 AM

Detroit Rock City

jeedee 02-25-2013 11:07 AM

Exactly.

Hockey is more than just a game of stats, friends.

Some of you play way too much NHL on PS3 and have too high of expectations :lol

Gumby 02-25-2013 11:23 AM

Stats aside, what has Garrison contributed? Has he played well on defense?

The Canucks sign players to contracts based on their past accomplishments, no? So far, Garrison has NOT lived up to his contract.

He's being paid to be in the top 4, and get the puck on net during PPs. Well, he was taken off the point on the main pp unit, and was playing on the PP point in Detroit only because of Bieksa's injury. Meanwhile, Ballard & Tanev have been better!

Brought in for toughness and cannon shot. Not used in PP #AVlogic

Vale46Rossi 02-25-2013 11:32 AM

At the end of the day... they lost the game and they have to go back to living in Detroit.

I'd rather lose a hockey game than live in somewhere worst than East Hastings everyday.

highfive 02-25-2013 11:45 AM

The West is a lot tighter checked than the East. Give him some time to learn to find his openings.
