Darren Dreger: Yes, there are ongoing negotiations between Vancouver and Florida. Canucks general manager Mike Gillis is driving the bus and the bus is in low gear. Nothing has changed since the NHL Draft but there is an ongoing negotiation. The Panthers didn't like the first approach from Gillis and countered with another offer but I wouldn't say that it's close. The Toronto Maple Leafs did express interest but I'm also told the Leafs are not engaged in discussions with Vancouver at this stage.

not that crazy, I kinda expected the Crosby contract. It was nice seeing what Tuka Rask got so hopefully get can get that kind of price tag for Corey but I doubt we will be that lucky

Anaheim has had way more than the past 30 days to get a deal done. He was drafted back in 2008. He kept on declining in the past saying he wanted to go back to school, finish his degree, etc etc. Bit of a dick move on his part IMO, if he had no intention of playing for the Ducks should have told them earlier so Ducks had the chance to move his rights for something.

+ Schultz was drafted 2nd round in 2008, and has developed and grown since then. He's like a free bonus 2nd round draft pick with no risk of whether he will turn out or not and somebody else has already spent the time and done the development for you.
