If Perry stays a Duck he gets similar term, higher money.

If he tests free agency or gets traded and resigns with a team, he gets in the $9M to $9.5 range. If he gets that, Is Malkin going to make +10 after next season?

You're insane if you think any team is going to give Perry 9 to 9.5.

jeedee 03-13-2013 05:11 PM

Its free agency.

Some team will be stupid enough to overpay for him.

I wouldn't be surprised if some team offered him 9M...it definitely won't be the Canucks :fuckthatshit:

Insane? No. Will it happen? Prolly not. I don't think it's insane that Perry could potentially be worth 9-9.5 mil a year. Esp to a team that has the cap space. Why not? Really, what's the diff between 8.5 and 9.5 mil? One million. To the rich billionaire owners, that's pocket change. Any team who picks up Perry will instantly see more butts in seats, meaning more revenue. People can't just base NHL salaries on what they make or what doctors make. Totally different. In the open market, I can see Perry getting 9 mil+. Perry's only 27. Has won a Hart, Stanley Cup and Olympic Gold. Pretty impressive resume I say.

Mike Oxbig 03-13-2013 05:46 PM

I can see Flyers offering Perry that much money but cap hit wont be that high. He's the perfect fit there.

subordinate 03-13-2013 05:50 PM

F Perry, hope the ducks finally lose some games. It's crazy how good they've been this season as well.

This will make more sense tomorrow night during VAN/NASH on the NHL on TSN. Or maybe it won't.

I'd say you're as insane if you think the Canucks have a realistic chance of bringing Perry in by trade or signing.

I'm still holding out hope that Bure's #10 also gets retired that night, though there has been exactly no talk about it recently. I'm not sure why they would want to make this a surprise, maybe because Bure's # retirement would stir up a controversy and they want it to just happen.

Hank getting named captain at the beginning of the 2010-11 season was also a surprise right? I can't remember, but as I recall there wasn't much discussion of a captaincy ceremony prior to

Quoted for when it happens.

Ducks will offer 8 years in the $70 to $80 million range. If he goes to free agency, I think he gets that or higher.

He had won in every step of his career.

Memorial Cup...check
World Junior Gold...check
Olympic Gold...check
Stanley Cup...check
Hart Trophy...check

He only gets 7 years (instead of the 8) if he doesn't sign with the Ducks, so that could mean more money per year.

Taveres' deal looks sweet compared to ones these days, he won't make more than 4.95 for next 3 years, followed by two years at 5.5.

not happening, because they will announce it before hand

murd0c 03-13-2013 09:09 PM

so with Hartnell back from injury does this mean the Canucks can trade Lu for him :troll:

of schnoo

realistic assessment

Its Luongo's turn to prove his worth. I believe he is starting tomorrow as well
If we take how the average season goes, Luongo begins his streak again and gets pretty hot

I have every reason to believe he is going to run with it until the post season..and then thats when the real battle begins

Id be surprised if a goalie is moved at deadline

Do the Canucks have a chance? Yes they do. Sedin contracts expiring soon + the option of buying out Ballard or Booth. Are they front runners? Hell no. We've seen MG make the big splash before with Sundin. Who knows.

Please ask yourself how many teams in the NHL can afford to offer a UFA a 9-9.5 million cap hit. Only contenders and most of them will be near the 64 mill cap.

9.5 would make it the second highest cap hit in the NHL...Yeah I think most teams wouldn't be stupid enough to offer a player who has been point per game for one season in his career that money.

But IMO he's gonna stay in Anaheim in for 8 mill a year or go to Toronto for about the same.
