i haven't paid that much attention to the east so i hadn't realize that TB and FLA had been doing this poorly, especially in the goaltending area. not suggesting they will now trade their farm to vancouver for our goalies now but i'm sure their has to be some regret on their part for not exploring their goalie options a little bit deeper.
Edit: just watching the Makaveli highlights. Rinne has pretty bad luck in Vancouver, eh?

Canucks trade search
Sources around the league tell ESPN.com that Canucks GM Mike Gillis has been very active making phone calls over the past 7-10 days, checking in with nearly every team in the league to see if there’s any fit for a trade.
As we’ve seen with the lack of trades around the league, easier said than done.
Vancouver desperately wants to find help at center. The Canucks haven’t had a No. 3 center all year and No. 2 center Ryan Kesler is out for the second time this season because of injury.
Had Stephen Weiss not gone down with a season-ending wrist surgery in Florida, I believe the Canucks would have gotten into the bidding for the Panthers center.
I’m also told the Canucks checked in with the Buffalo Sabres recently. Steve Ott would be a perfect fit as the No. 3 center in Vancouver, and the Canucks had conversations with the Dallas Stars last season about him. But at this point, it doesn’t appear as though the Sabres are making Ott available.
I heard that on TSN last night on Gillis trying to work on something. It's good to hear hes out there working and I'm sure he will find someone that wants to dance sonner then later. They were talking about Roy from Dallas as well would be a perfect fit.
Volpatti on line with Ovie and Backstrom, good for him
Quote:
A couple of weeks ago, Aaron Volpatti was on waivers. Tomorrow afternoon, he’ll be on the Capitals’ top line.
That’s the word from the Washington Times, which reports the physical winger that the Canucks recently tried (and failed) to send to the minors will be skating with Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin against the Bruins in Boston.
