We are in a new CBA, with 7 year max contracts and 8 if you resign with your team. Big name stars are going to make their money and players will begin eclipsing Crosby and Ovie's benchmarks. Malkin will be the first it looks like.

^^ Can't disagree with most of what ya'll said but the only players worthy of 9/10mil+/yr would be Malkin or Crosby and maybe Stamkos. Anybody else doesn't even come close.

Any GM in the league would sign them in a heartbeat for that amount, can't say the same for Perry or Getzlaf.

MG is not the issue.

AV is on thin ice but I don't think a coaching change will happen in a shortened season. If the Canucks don't make it past 2nd round I'm pretty sure he's out of here.

The season isn't a write off yet, but if the Canucks don't pull it together quickly here, I have a feeling the 2013-2014 team photo will have some unfamiliar faces.

This season is just like the 2005-06 season. That team, led by the WCE, struggled down the stretch and missed the playoffs which resulted in the Sedin/Luongo/AV era.

If the team misses the playoffs, AV is gone at the end of the year. But, who's waiting in the wings to lead the team?
