He might be just what the team needs, I don't know... I am totally done with Kesler ever being a big scorer again though. St. Louis might turn him into a scorer, but I doubt it. Kesler's place, if he is ever 100% again, is as a defensive center, IMO
Top line already has a scoring/passing duo. St Louis needs someone to feed passes to, and that's not Kesler I don't think.
Also if Stamkos has anything to say about it, I doubt they'll trade St Louis! His production will drop for sure
CDC/RS special seems to be Ballard/Raymond/late round 1st for ???????.
That'll be appealing to other GMs right?
, lets not kid ourselves here
We can't afford to trade our prospects either.. because we don't have any..
Gaunce and Jensen are probably the only two that would break the line-up to begin with but if Gillis has a brain he wouldn't dare touch them
IMO, MG has made two attempts to address our top 6 forward needs. As I said, Sturm was a useless acquisition in the first place. Considering Booth's concussion history, I'd say he was a high-risk acquisition, too.
I just don't see how St. Louis would be a bad acquisition, considering we don't give up the farm for him.
MG tried,
Booth trade was fair, a scrap and an older player for someone younger and has that upside
As "high-risk" as it maybe, it was something that was done to address the top6 forward issue
and history repeats itself again

Ballard, Raymond, Rodin, and 2 firsts for St. Louis
That Sabres fire sale video is hilarious. I guess they're somewhat satisfied with our ex Canucks as I didn't see Hodgson, Ehrhoff and Sulzer for sale. That's too bad, I wouldn't mind the first 2 back.
Why even bother speculating, I don't even know where the idea of acquiring St. Louis came from..but if I didn't hear anything from Bob, then it's pure dreaming.
Rumor/speculation that Babs is on the outs in Detroit. Supposedly there's been a rift between him and Holland
AV out, Babs in
If that were to happen I don't think we would be the only team thinking that. I call BS on that anyways no way would Detroit get rid of the best coach in the league cause of a less then steller season.
A lot of Insiders (Pierre Lebrun, Bob Mackenzie, Elliot Friedman) suggest that teams are calling Columbus about Dubinsky. He won’t come cheap as the asking price to even get a discussion going is likely a 1st round pick. He has a big contract and Gillis has acquired about him in the past.
Guys like him are so important to a team with skilled players. Look at the Rangers now. They’ve lost Dubinsky and Prust and just don’t have the depth they once did.
He would be a good fit on the Canucks second line and his style could help Kesler’s game become more offensive. I believe he’s previously played with Hansen in Portland. He makes it tough on the opposition and can play against the other teams’ top lines, takes face-offs, gets in the dirty areas, isn’t afraid to drop the gloves and doesn’t take shit from anyone.
Gillis is itching to make a move as it is well known he has called practically every GM in the league. He even brought his whole scouting crew to Toronto for the GMs meetings this weekend. With two weeks left until the trade deadline, I wonder what the Canucks will have to give up to make a deal.

Not to mention a shortened season, and the first one without #5 on defense!
