He could probably put those stats up here too, if he was to play first line and PP1 minutes. Too bad he wasn't willing to earn his role here, now he's stuck on a team many believe are on the verge of blowing it up, despite the backing of an owner who was willing to pay whatever the price to win (as shown by some of the contracts they have handed out in recent years which I'm sure they'd live to trade away).
BTW +1 doesn't mean a player is defensively responsible.
it just means vanek was scoring at a pace on even strength that made even shitty defensive like him players look better.

Plus/minus is an awful stat to judge a player's defensive abilities by. It's basically useless. A +1 rating literally means fuck all. You have to look at the underlying stats..fenwick, corsi, etc.

You may be right, but then again, he has the same amount of points as Daniel, and more goals.
At this point, it's easy to say the trade was dumb and management mishandled Hodgson.
Unless he's a one-hit wonder (like Grabner), I see we just traded away a NHL ready centerman.
Regardless how Kassian eventually pans out in a few years,
we gave up good talent while our Cup window is closing.
I do believe players should earn their role, but considering how well he's doing when given patience and ice-time,
it seems like he did earn more time than he deserved, and it was AV (or management) that fucked things up.
And please... he's almost ppg right now.
Picking on his +/-'s is like complaining about the hot chick with a "pointy elbow".
I'm not saying defense/backchecking isn't important. It very so is.
But to use just that to justify Canucks giving away good talent is ridiculous.

I was just stating what you guys were saying before. You guys said hodgson is a liability because he was -4. You guys do know he's playing on a shit team and playing against top defensive pairings every night. He kills penalties and he has more short handed goals than anyone on this team lol
W/e he has 27points that we don't have. We totally traded backwards on that deal, who the fuck trades backwards. Fk management and AV. Kassian won't make much of a difference once he's developed because we will be a rebuilding team by then lol Posted via RS Mobile
