Burke built that team , Burke built the 2011 Canucks finals team and Burke completed 2007 Anaheim Ducks team.
Whose the cap guru here? With Booth (4.25Mil) and Kesler (5Mil) being out for the majority of this season. Shouldnt we have that much cap room? I remember having alil debate with iwantaskyline about this where he was right........

Is it true the cap does not apply in the playoffs? If so, we pretty much have 9.25 mill to spend until then...

We have about 10 mill free cap (Kesler, Booth and Manny) and after moving luongo is another 5.3.

It's great we have all this cap space (assuming we even do), but who/what do we give up to get something more than depth players back in return?
The asking price for Iggy is reportedly a first rounder, a solid prospect, and a roster player, for a few months of rental use before Iggy goes UFA. And people were complaining the asking price for Lu was too high... I foresee a pretty slow trade deadline, no big names moving. Too many teams are still in the playoff race, or at least think they are, and there aren't many all out sellers.

All salaries are paid out for the regular season. So you're right in that there's no "cap" in the playoffs, but you have to be under the cap during the season and there's a roster freeze after the trade deadline, so there's no point thinking about caps in the playoffs. Players don't get paid in the post-season, and revenues to the teams during the post season are profit in their pocket (assuming they make one).
The only time you can add players in the post-season is via your AHL affiliate. The so-called "black-Aces".
Anyone remember Canucks scout saying "We were set to draft Anton Rodin as our first round pick but Jordan Schreoder dropped so we couldn't pass on him."
Crosby's contract isn't a huge risk. He's the best player in the world at $8.7m. That's a risk any GM would take.
And that Cally chick is cute.
Well, I don't know how the insurance shit works - in fact, I didn't know there was insurance for teams on their injured players at all....But with Crosby coming off of that concussion and not having played for pretty much 2 seasons, along with the fact that many people close to the situation believed that he'd never play again, he would be a huge risk if the team didn't have insurance......a huge reward yes, but he'd come with huge risk as well...
