thing is unless you get some sort of impact player in return whats the point of trading Lu? for futures? a 2nd rounder?
your not going to fill the 4.5 cap hit this season with a player who isnt being overpaid. So sign a few plugs at 2 each that will not have an impact in the post season? I'd rather have Lu sitting on the bench as insurance than have a couple bottom 6 players fill his cap it, we already are chalk full of bottom 6 players who are interchangeable
imo the only way to improve for the playoffs is to either make a deal for a player who has top 6 potential where you eat some of that players hit coming back OR a package deal for a good player who is still under contract for at least another year
there's been very little chatter about it but IMO the biggest improvement we could possibly make to give us any sort of post season chance is to some how get Doan
if that means giving up a Connaton/Schroeder/Jensen/Gaunce/First round pick I think you have to do it.

Out of anyone we can not give up Jensen...... we need younger players with a lower cap hit that will be on a entry level contract.

Don't forget with 1 goalie gone, we will need to find a legitimate back-up still too.
If Lu shats the bed come play-off time and we have no legit back up, there will be uproar, again, for the next 10 years, despite how much strombone1 will make fun of himself. If Corey falters in the playoffs due to lack of experience, you risk breaking him long term by having no competent back-up to relieve the pressure for at least a game or two.
Despite some trades that have not panned out, I feel MG has made the right decisions for the most part during his tenure. Given the current circumstances, crap luck, and shortened season, the next couple of months will truly reveal what kind of GM he really is.

^ i think hes talking about this season mainly because we need to make a move or its gonna be another 1st round exit
lack just had surgery 2 months ago and hes out for at least 6 months, he will get a shot for sure next year, provided he can recover 100% Quote:

I was thinking more about the rest of this season and this playoffs. Or we can dress 1 goalie, emergency call up ubc's goalie every game as a backup, and save an nhl backups caphit for a forward?

Just got back from the Canucks practice and post media scrum, so cool be in the dressing room with the players. I'll post some pictures later and some video footage, it was hilarious when Farhan from TSN asked Lu off camera if Lu had booked his one way ticket to Toronto, Lu's wasn't amused.

I lol'd Vancouver Canucks Authentic Zack Kassian Jersey
"Kassian has been hurt the last week or so and struggling mightily the weeks leading up to it but by playoff time you're going to want this guy's name on the back of your jersey. He is going to hit scumbag Pat Kane so hard that Kane won't be able to punch a cab driver for weeks. He is the biggest beauty on the team, fighting, hitting, scoring. He is the future and he is going to play a major role in this years run to the cup. If $200 is too much for you and you're ok with getting a $30-$60 fake jersey just know that it is as easy to spot a fake jersey in a crowd of people as it is to spot Keith Ballard in AV's doghouse."

theres no way the two-time president trophy winning Canucks w/ the best goaltending duo would lose to the 8-seeded Kings right? it would be an easy series right?
not attacking ya but who knows
i'll be more optimistic about getting past the first round if Kes can return in time 110% and if we somehow snag up a top 6 fwd

Luongo to toronto is bs... why would they need a goalie and that fat contract? Vancouver fans trying to sell it like the leafs need him, Riemer is legit.
Tampa has Stamkos and friends to bail Luongo but yzerman doesnt want to look like a rookie GM trading two 2nd round picks for lindback.
