Brassard with a PPG that is 4-0 NYR, I know it's only their first game but after being a team that is 30th in goals for and one of the worst on their PP scoring 4 goals and going 2-2 on the PP looks good so far EDIT: Clowe on the powerplay for his second of the night and the season |
:ahwow: 5-1 clowe with 2 goals........ :ahwow: |
Less than a month away... |
I dont know why people think Luongo's contract is sooooo bad. I maybe totally off base here or wrong but so what if ur paying the guy till hes 42. Luongo is stilll in his prime and for teams trying to make the playoffs, or teams that have goaltending issues so Luongo is perfect. He still has many good years left and when he starts to decline, u could trade him to the bottom feeding teams that need to hit the cap floor. (ex. Tim Thomas trade to Islanders) But the great thing is, is that he only makes 1.6Mil, 1Mil, 1Mil in the last 3 years of his contract yet with a cap hit of 5.3Mil. Thats a perfect scenario for teams that need to hit the cap floor to tank on purpose to receive there top 5 pick in the draft. Thats how i see his contract should be looked at....... |
^ Most playoff teams spend near the cap. I doubt Luongo would waive his no trade clause to go to a non-playoff team and trading for luongo is essentially a stop-gap solution. When he does retire, Luongo becomes a 5.3mil cap burden. Not many players play past 40. I know there are counterexamples such as Jagr and Chelios, but the majority retire before 40 and that 5.3mil cap space can be used for a top line defensemen or forward. |
Im talkn about trading him to a contender now, and when hes on the decline then the team can trade him to a bottom feeder. Not all teams wanna spend to the cap, and there are teams out there that are tryin to save money.... Posted via RS Mobile |
^ He has a full no trade clause. I think it gets carried over to when he gets traded to a new team. |
John Moore just scored, all players NYR traded for and signed in the last few days have scored except Dorsett he is injuried I think. Brassard, Clowe and Moore |
for people in nashville who bought a peter forsberg shirt will be so stoked... |
wow NYR All three debuting New York Rangers made big contributions in their 6-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ryane Clowe (2 goals, 1 assist after 0 goals in first 28 games) Derick Brassard (1 goal, 3 assists) John Moore (1 goal) |

I'm not overly surprised Lu wasn't moved today and I'm not upset about it either. Part of me was hoping Schneider would get traded for some major return so we could make a serious run while the "window is still open". Not upset that didn't happen either. Maybe we'll be considered a dark horse this year  Playoffs. The only thing certain about them is that anything can happen. |
^+1 That's the best part of the playoffs. Last year's SCF was an 8th vs. 7th matchup. LA fans had zero confidence in the team heading into the first round, and who expected NJ to make the finals? |
|
Our D is as solid as LA's last year, when healthy and playing to their full potential Too bad they're rarely healthy and play to their full potential :lol |

NJ was an anomaly, no doubt. They barely got by Florida and they were lucky they didn't have to go through Boston or Pittsburgh in their run. |
Can't have Euros playing D... we need strong MURICAN BOYS |
