The Garrison deal is structured:
$5.5 million next season followed by $6.5M, $5M, $4.5M, $3.6M and $2.5M.

And then I saw the actual deal. LOL that's how stupid most of Calgary's deals are so I actually believed that they signed Hudler for $8m...

i almost SHIT myself when i saw the initial article....

but now, im all good....stoked to grab hudler... with the higher cap it helps as well.

dont see why people bash hudler....just jelly i guess

FWIR, Detroit fans aren't too sad to see him go. He was playing with Zetterberg and Filppula and missed many opportunities. Apparently Zetterberg and Filppula made 80% of the plays on that line. Hedler doesn't have that kind of talent to set him up for 25 goals in Calgary.

He's also been labelled as poor defensively and unwilling to grind it out in the corners due to his size.

Why's the contract structured like that? It's like Garrison's expected to decline as years come.

Just a front loaded contract. Similar to luongo/crosby etc but the cap hit stay the same

winson604 07-02-2012 05:30 PM

I guess Calgary wasn't going to make the same mistake 3 times :concentrate:

before you guys laugh at the flames we should worry about ourself that garrison isnt a fluke like boumeester and ballard coming out of the south east division...

:considered:

Calgary currently has the second highest payroll in the league, yet they have no number 1 centreman. They should take pointers from the Oilers.

number 1 center at last

Tyler Ennis is the #1 centre. Hodgson will battle Grigorenko for the 2nd/3rd lines centre job.

Ennis mostly plays wing...Grigorenko just got drafted...he's not necessarily a lock for the full time gig yet (pending training camp performance)

There's nothing to worry about....we got him at a very fair price; As much as their is the possibility that he could end up being a bust, he could just as likely be a steal....He just broke out so it's very possible that he's only beginning to tap into his full potential and it's very possible that he could end up being even better than what we saw from him this season...

Renthal 07-02-2012 08:42 PM

From Allan Muir of SI.com:
"Captain Shane Doan told potential suitors, including Phoenix GM Don Maloney, he wouldn't make any decisions until after July 10, by which point the viability of Greg Jamison's bid to own the Coyotes should be determined. No doubt Doan would like to stay in Phoenix, but the likelihood of the desert drama finally closing by that point is low. I think he's gone. He'd like to return home to Edmonton, or latch on with Vancouver, a legitimate contender in need of some dependable grit."

Flames always find a way of turning a decent pick up into a horrible one.

Dennis Wideman: would have been a decent pick up. savagely overpay the guy.
Hudler @ 4mil? Enough said. At least they got rid of Jokinen.

SkinnyPupp 07-02-2012 09:43 PM

If Doan comes to Vancouver :fullofwin:

We can't clown on Hudler. Booth and Ballard's contracts look just as bad, if not worse

Don't think anybody is clowning on Hudler, but rather the Flames...
