How can you conclude that?
Clinching depends on the other teams results.

If it even means anything...
Toronto needs maximum of 7 pts in 6 games.
Vancouver needs maximum of 6 pts in 6 games.

Toronto could clinch if they win tonight (resulting in 66 points) and Winnipeg loses in regulation tonight (resulting in 44 points, 5 games remaining).

WPG is currently in 9th place. BUF is currently in 10th place at 42 points with 5 GR.

Edit: Oops a Toronto win tonight would give them 56 points, not 66.

Detroit Red Wings@DetroitRedWings
It's Official: Red Wings sign goaltender Jimmy Howard to six-year deal.

5.3m cap hit

Quote:
DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings and goalie Jimmy Howard agreed to a $31.8 million, six-year contract Tuesday, keeping him off the market as a free agent this summer.

The 29-year-old Howard is in his fourth season as the Red Wings' top goalie.

"We're extremely pleased to have Jimmy under contract for the next six seasons," general manager Ken Holland said. "He's entering the prime of his career and over the last four years has gained a tremendous amount of regular season and postseason experience."

Howard is 17-12-6 with a 2.31 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage this season. Detroit is in a wild race for the final playoff spots in the Western Conference, hoping to extend their postseason streak to 22 years.

Howard was drafted by Detroit in the second round in 2003. In 2009-10, he went 37-15-10 with a 2.26 GAA, becoming the fourth goalie in team history to win at least 30 games as a rookie.

He went on to become the first Detroit goalie to win at least 35 games in each of his first three full seasons.

"He's developed into a top-tier NHL goaltender and is a very important part of our team moving forward," Holland said. "Jimmy is one of our leaders and we look forward to watching him elevate his game to the next level in a Red Wings' sweater."

After Monday's games, Detroit was tied for eighth in the West with Columbus, although the Red Wings have played one fewer game. Dallas was two points behind the Red Wings and Blue Jackets, with Phoenix another two back.

Howard's 2.38 GAA over the last four seasons ranks him 11th in the league in that span. What he has yet to do is lead the Red Wings on an extended postseason run. He's 13-15 with a 2.63 GAA in the playoffs, and Detroit hasn't made it past the second round since 2009.

Alright, I want to make this as clear as possible.

ANY MORE IMMATURE COMMENTS WILL RESULT IN POINTS AND/OR A TEMP BAN.

This is a Canucks thread. Not your very own episode of Jersey Shore.

Leave your drama to PMs. No one else cares to read how e-thugging you are here.

What? Toronto only has 53 pts right now...

Did you get Pens and Maple Leafs mixed up?

(Btw, I messed up in my earlier post. Both Vancouver and Toronto only needs 4 more points to clinch. Maybe even 3, depending on tiebreaker.)

Oops I don't know what I was looking at... Right - Toronto has 53 points right now. But if they win, and Winnipeg loses in regulation tonight, WPG won't be able to catch TOR even if TOR loses its remaining games and WPG wins all 5.

Basically with a Toronto win and a Winnipeg loss results in Toronto with 55 points and Winnipeg with 44 points. Winnipeg is in 9th place currently. Both teams will have 5 games left to play. If WPG, wins out they still only reach 54 points.

I would say someone possess a killer instinct when:
A) they can raise their playing intensity in times of need; is clutch
B) someone that is willing to pay every ounce of blood, sweat, and/or tears to win
C) someone that pay zero fucks to what the scoreboard says; refusing to lose

I use the Trevor Linden example because it's something almost of us all should be able to understand. All his injuries were evident, and you could see the effort with every shoulder check. Even Cliff Ronning said that hearing Linden screaming as he took needles to his chest in order to win was truly an inspiring thing.

Goku metaphor was a more blunt approach to it.

But of course, everyone shows their intensity in a different way. I think for hockey, we just consider it a highly emotional and physical sport, so if we don't see the Sedins throwing their bodies around, we disregard them as lacking "killer instinct". This can be used to explain Takumi or Tezuka's situation as well.

With that said, I don't think the Sedins have that willingness to win.. I too, wish they would play with higher intensity at times.
Razor's posts here coincide with my opinion, dunno about the dragonball stuff though
