I agree on the Grigorenko.

I agree on the Grigorenko. | His characteristics are more suited towards the wing than C...how many 5'9 C @ 160lbs survive the NHL and produce at the C position...at least on the wing he can use his speed and agility

Thats over $8.4M for the next 3 years that could sign some pretty interesting players in the next little while.

I still don't understand the hate on Ballard unless your just following the media hate
For 4.2 or whatever I'd say he's fairly servicable and has alot of potential when you look at the other signings around the league on dmen

Ballard just has to play his game and he's a great D. Coach V hasn't let him play the way he should be playing since he got here which is the main issue.

For those who doesnt know keith ballard's potenial, with this scouting report he is worth 4.2! Quote:
Ballard is a two-way defenseman, capable of contributing both offensively and defensively. Known for his hard hitting, specifically with hip checks, he led his club in hits during his first five years in the NHL. He is also proficient in shot-blocking. Offensively, Ballard is noted as a quick and smooth skater, making him able to start plays from the defensive zone. At the 2012 Canucks SuperSkills Competition, he won the fastest skater segment by circling the rink in 13.440 seconds. He has a reputation as a player with intensity and a competitive edge

I would have given Ballard stud status in Florida. He's a smooth skater good puck handler and good passer. His defensive play is questionable at times, but so is Erik Karlsson's and he just won the Norris trophy.

Which is why he is the ultimate fit for #5 dmen on the canucks. Ballard's pairing Tanev has all the defensive intelligent to pick up his slack while contributing offensively.

i like our defense right now if garrison lives up to expectations. i think it is time tanev gets a good look to fill in as the 6th D full-time. suter would have been nice but he will be pricey and plays on the left side where we are log jammed anyway.
parise would be awesome to add to kesler's line to play with booth but his asking price/term is too steep.

Looks like garrison is an upgrade compare to ehroff. Where does mason raymond fit in on the roster since he helped canucks lure garrison home?

Prospects Camp comes to a close with a rainy climb up the Grouse Grind. The fastest group time was 45.58.
Congratulations, Prospects!

Carey price is from Anaheim lake and makes it every year to the Williams lake stampede.
Looking forward to the coming Doan news when he makes his mind up.

Doan to the Canucks a possibility?
I think Gillis is going to be patient. He has referenced a number of times now that more deals to be had through trades than signings. He also mentioned that next year's free agency class is much better.
I think the only way he throws money around is on one year deals. I would love to see Doan sign with the Canucks for a year. One year deals and you dont' handcuff yourself next season.

Players like Doan dont sign one year deals. They want long term
Gauranteed money.
