Looks like he just completely gave up on that 2nd one.
I know he pretty much had no chance recovering,
but it's not a great sign (for Detroit fans) to see their goalie giving up on the play like that.
Howard basically just stood there and watched.

LOL at the Calgary Flames, even when they win they lose. No shot at the playoffs but doing there best to submarine there chance at the lowest pick possible. Finish strong Flames, finish strong. :)

Calgarys motto should be, Keep winning, lose Mackinnon. Keep losing, draft Drouin

It's a playoff spot clinching game for the team tonight.

NHL tweet:

Tonight, the @VanCanucks can clinch a playoffs spot IF they defeat Dallas in any fashion.

-hoping that Roy lights up his former team tonight. :fullofwin:

Don't forget it's a lottery for the bottom set of teams. So win or lose, they can still lose out on a top 3 pick for this year's draft.

Speaking of CLB...anyone in the same boat as me wanting them to make the playoffs? Like they've gone through so much crap. Nash drama and leaving. Ppl saying they need to rebuild etc etc...Now..they have a solid goalie with a hard working line up plus Gaborik. It's nice seeing them rewarded.

So the rumor is that there will be 6 "Stadium Series" games around the league next year. One of the match ups to be Canucks Vs Senators @ BC Place. If true, that matchup is a complete:failed:

If the rumours are true, it'll likely be a Heritage Classic between the Vancouver Millionaires and the Ottawa Sentaors, a rematch of the 1915 Cup Final seeing Vancouver hoist the cup for the first and only time. That would be the reason for the matchup.

Mathematically, Detroit can still get 57 pts, beating Canucks in tiebreaker with ROW.

Should Detroit win their last 5 games, and Canucks win tonight
but lose the rest of the games in regulation.

Highly not probable scenario though.

edit: Nevermind... Canucks have tiebreaker over Columbus.

:lol, would be funny if Rangers misses it, and Columbus gets in.

Saw this on RFD

There's an Employee code on http://shop.canada.nhl.com/ right now - gives you 30% off your order + free shipping. I tried adding something to my cart right now and applying the code, still seems to work.

the code is NHLE

if you're looking to order anything, do it now before they take the code away.

Per Rick Ball: AV just told me he misheard the question this morning in Tanev. He says he could be ready for start of playoffs

fliptuner 04-18-2013 02:40 PM

Good to hear. Hopefully he can get a game or 2 in, beforehand, to tuneup.

Also, don't forget it's a 5:30 start tonight, guys.

Without Bieksa or Tanev, all our D are lefties
Posted via RS Mobile

Hondaracer 04-18-2013 03:23 PM

personally i dont see the all lefties thing being as big an issue as people make it, Garrison seems to be playing fine on the right and do you really notice a gap in the PP without a right hander?

TPMarko 04-18-2013 03:39 PM

henrik sedin has come out and admitted that without the right hand shots on the PP (kesler/salo), there are some plays that he can't make or the effect of those plays are lessened by passing to a lefty.

EuterVanWasser 04-18-2013 03:52 PM

I don't think the issue is as bad as it seems in the offensive zone, but it's the defensive zone that worries me when you have 6 L hand defensemen. The Nucks are going to be scrambling like crazy in their own end under this scenario as they have been the this season when Bieksa or Tanev are out of the lineup.

It's difficult playing off-side D when you're own end, you have to rely on your backhand a lot and this is going to lead to poor breakouts (much harder to make crisp passes up ice on your backhand obviously), and poor man-to-man battles in the corners.

I play off-side D and have done so for years, and would say that it's a disadvantage to me in puck battles in our own end and when forechecking pressure is applied. But I love it in the offensive zone :)
