As somebody mentioned before, a severed tendon is an "easier" repair than a rupture.

Though I don't believe anybody has reported how severe Karlsson's cut/rupture was, I'm doubtful it was a complete rupture. Still quite incredible | According to this article on TSN, it was a 70% sever to his achilles tendon.
Regardless, it is amazing that he was able to recover so quickly.

The actual procedure/repair itself may be easier with a cut tendon, but its the associated rehab from the injury and surgery that keeps them out the majority of the time (slow stretching, range of motion, then strengthening). A fully ruptured tendon and fully severed tendon that has been repaired will be equally hard to rehab.

Some of those choices for the NHL 14 cover vote are absolute shit.
"As somebody mentioned before, a severed tendon is an "easier" repair than a rupture."
If a severed tendon was easier to repair than a partially cut tendon, wouldn't the doctors just fully sever a partial cut..? Sounds like bullshit to me..

i think the issue is that a cut tendon is easier to mend than a torn tendon.

I don't know, just read it in the thread earlier and in my mind it makes sense.
If you generally think about it, what would be easier to re-attach together and heal, a torn tendon that's all shredded up and likely has damage to where it contacts the bone (which would take longer to heal), or one that was sliced cleanly through the middle of the tendon?

No doubt, they're both difficult injuries to rehab. In my experience, however, the rupture was a significantly more painful and drawn out process. Posted via RS Mobile |

I sometimes wonder how serious Booth's injury is when he's out for the season and Karlsson is able to come back.

i'd be willing to bet he still hasn't recovered (fully) from the groin injury during camp..
unofficial reports say it has to do with his ankle... soo...

Callahan scores in OT sending NYR to the playoffs, thank god. I don't know what I would have done had they not made it, I wouldn't ever be able to mention or watch hockey without friends bugging me about it
none the less NYR have been bad and a huge disapointment this year
