TSN will only be the first couple round and then CBC will take over like last year.

pastarocket 04-29-2013 09:56 AM

Prediction: Canucks defeat the Sharks in a hard fought, seven games. It will be a physical series, with plenty of bad blood between these teams especially after we beat them in the West conference final two years ago. Schneider wins a goaltender duel with Niemi.

-really hoping that Garrison can channel Salo to bury the Sharks with power play goals. :fuckyea:

It's too bad that idiot Ben Eager isn't playing for the Sharks anymore. We would get more power play opportunities from his stupidity. :troll:

pastarocket 04-29-2013 10:18 AM

Are we gonna see a pretty Canucks fan flash her boobies at a Sharks player in the penalty box?

Looks like @frankcorrado22 will be in the lineup for Gm1. Skating with Alberts, Barker-Ballard together. #canucks
Good news on Schneids. Not sure that I like Ebbet on the fourth at all.

Mr.HappySilp 04-29-2013 10:31 AM

Which team will make it to the finals. About to do the play off pool.

spideyv2 04-29-2013 10:32 AM

Yeah, lets play Ebbett over Pinner in the playoffs. Yeah, lets watch Ebbett get destroyed and rubbed off the puck.

O ok

Vancouver and Toronto are dark horse teams this year.

spideyv2 04-29-2013 10:35 AM

Ebbett is so fucking useless FFS. Fuck.

I am thinking St Louis might have a good chance. LA I am not so sure if Qucik will play as well as last year. Pittsburgh seems good as well they seem to have more depth this year. Sigh so hard to pick.

AzNightmare 04-29-2013 11:26 AM

Damn... so hard to guess the final four.
I'm doing a simple pool at my office.
Pick any 23 players + 2 goalies.
1 Point for G,A,GWG, + W,SO

Any people with the same players just cancel each other out.

Any suggestions?
I'm thinking of loading up on Blackhawks...
I think Kings might go deep again, but it seems risky.

I'm tempted to pick a bunch of Canucks... but in all honesty,
they're a 2nd round team at the very most... :okay:

Mr.HappySilp 04-29-2013 11:42 AM

^^ you are like me lol
I am thinking of St.Louis. They seem pretty solid. LA seems good but honestly I don't think quick will be as good as last year(his stats shows this). Blackhawks seems strong but like you other people will pick them too.

bballguy 04-29-2013 12:02 PM

Aight, got my tickets for Detroit @ Anaheim for tomorrow!

Playoff Pools are so hard for a variety of reasons but I wouldn't "load" up too hard on any single team depending on your definition of loading up.

How many players from the final four teams are going to really be racking up the points? The best player on a team who makes it through 2 rounds could easily rack up more points than say the 3rd or 4th player with the most points for a team who makes it all the way.

I've won plenty of regular season pools before but have never even came close in a playoff pool so what do I know lol

jeedee 04-29-2013 12:39 PM

lol I remember loading up on Flyers/Pens players last year in that high scoring series :lawl:

You mean like the rest of CBC?

So you only want to hear broadcasts from people that refer to the Leafs as "we"? Fuck off...the rest of CBC is extremely pro-Leafs. You live in Vancouver, where we fucking hate the Leafs. Deal with it.

Ronin 04-29-2013 12:44 PM

Ebbett is the new Aaron Rome...except while Romer was actually a rather solid but unspectacular defenseman, Ebbett is a minor leaguer at best. I don't get why AV sticks with him so much. He gets destroyed on defense...something AV is all up Schroeder/Hodgson/every rookie for.

XplicitLuder 04-29-2013 01:00 PM

What do you guys think of this whole 22sec shift by Henrik? That he only played 22secs in first shift then left the game to rest but played that to keep the streak going? Been listening so much debate about it on 1040 Lol

Vansterdam 04-29-2013 01:03 PM

who cares he needs rest for the playoffs + keep his ironman streak going.

game was gonna be pointless anyways. no need to get hurt or tired for no reason

alot of teams benched/rested their players for the last few games of the regular season.

Hondaracer 04-29-2013 01:27 PM

Ya gotta know John Toews wouldn't have played 22 seconds for the hawks.

I just googled up some Playoff Pool strategies. Seems like there's 2 common ones that work.
Guess the final 4 and load up, or take the top 2-3 scorers of every team and try to take a huge first round lead.

Only thing is, these strategies are meant for drafting pools. At work, we don't have time to gather everyone in a room to do a draft, so everyone's just submitting any 25 players they want.

I haven't been listening... what could the debate possibly be about???
Henrik would have sat out just like Daniel if it wasn't for the Ironman streak.
Kesler played because he's already had enough rest, missing most of the season.
As commical as it was, it's a nice feeling to know AV cares about player's personal stats.
Sort of how he put Schneider in for 28 seconds just so he would have enough appearances to
share the Jennings Trophy with Luongo a few seasons back.

Based on how Kesler and Bieksa got pegged in the face with the puck,
good thing a bunch of players were rested...

Like many other teams, the coaching staff wanted to rest their top players. They could've said "Sorry Hank, you have the night off. Too bad about your ironman streak." Instead, they let him play one shift, then spent the rest of the night down a player and short-benched! Goes to show that they respect his individual record.

Fuck the haters I say.

Just load up on who you think will be the Final 2 or Final 4 at most. No point picking superstars if they are going to be bounced in one or two rounds. The strategies are more or less the same regardless.
