Still have the goofball teams in Alberta, but LA, SJ, and Anaheim? :heckno:

I would not expect them to be in the playoffs at all, let alone win the division.

Prepare Yourselves - dark days as a Canucks fan are coming.

Oh god, I hope not.

Kinda blows my mind how the south east and north east gets slightly fucked over with the awkward division cut...

spideyv2 05-06-2013 12:23 AM

lol, what if...

EmperorIS 05-06-2013 12:32 AM

Lol scumbag MG. " we are all in for the cup this year". Makes 1 trade. Now down 0-3.

Really? Let's take a look:

4-1-0 vs Calgary
3-1-0 vs Colorado
2-2-1 vs Edmonton
2-2-0 vs Minnesota

Very good against these goofball teams. Aside from the throwaway game vs Edmonton... They won every series in their division, except against the 'other good team' which they tied.

Now let's look at how they did against their future rivals:

2-0-1 vs LA
1-3-0 vs Anaheim
0-2-1 vs San Jose
2-1-0 vs Phoenix

They seem to have had LA's number this year, which nobody would have guessed. But do you like their chances playing Anaheim and SJ more regularly? Even Phoenix can be scary. Scarier than Edmonton, Calgary, and Colorado at least.

Some Other Series outside the retard division:

1-2-0 vs Detroit
1-0-2 vs St Louis
1-2-0 vs Dallas
2-0-1 vs Chicago
3-0-0 vs Nashville

Aside from Nashiville who were absolutely horrible last season, the only series they won was Chicago.

So I stand by what I said - they benefited greatly from playing weak teams 4-5 times this year, in a shortened season.

Actually you do realize that isn't true right? Against the Central and Pacific we were a combined 15-9-6 and against the NW we were 11-6-1. LA, SJ, and Anaheim, and Phoenix who will be in our division are all from the Pacific and we were 6-7-2 against them.

Here were our records from this season.

Overall Record
26-15-7

Vs Central
9-2-4

Vs Pacific
6-7-2

Vs Northwest
11-6-1

The Canucks haven't been the same after that Boston game last season, that imo was the peak of one of the best Canucks team we've seen but after that game the team went on a downward spiral. The scoring dried up, our rock solid defense disappeared and the overall effort level dropped.

I'll be ashamed to be a Canuck fan if we get swept but part of me wishes we do because that we the ownership has to make some big changes starting from the top this off season instead of hearing the same old BS and same old excuses.

Gallagher

kristianhay 05-06-2013 07:00 AM

Gallagher gets my vote as well.

He put up 28pts, only 3 back of Hubes while playing a far more limited role. Huberdeau was playing top line minutes all year, Saad was as well - not to mention he was playing with guys like Toews and Hossa. If you watched Gallagher play this year, you know he deserves the Calder.

AWDTurboLuvr 05-06-2013 07:04 AM

Gallagher gets the Calder IMO. He's a factor in every Habs game, whether he's on the scoresheet or not. Watching him in person, you can tell he's got great hockey smarts and will be an awesome player for many years to come.

Ronin 05-06-2013 07:16 AM

Gallagher. Huberdeau is more of a talent but Gallagher is the guy I'd want on my team today and the rookie that had the most impact on his team's season.

That being said, none of the three were particularly impressive in the shortened season. Any of last year's three would've won this year.

Im not being biased here, my buddy from Edmonton who hates the Canucks, im not even allowed to watch Canuck games at his house is telling me the Canucks are being hosed by the refs.

Anyways its a very close matchup, and it could go either way. But it isnt impossible to string 4 wins in a row.

mb_ 05-06-2013 07:47 AM

I'd pick Gallagher for Calder

Take off the rose-coloured glasses. This Canucks team simply doesn't have another gear to compete with the Sharks this year. A bounce or two, based on the law of averages, may help the Canucks take game 4, but unless San Jose takes down their intensity level like 3 notches, there is no way the Canucks take more than 1 game in this series.

Good teams find a way to win close games. We had Game 2, but we somehow missed an empty net, failed to clear the puck in our own zone with a minute to play, and botched a 2-on-1. Good teams don't make these mistakes with a game on the line. It's a bitter pill to swallow, considering that the last 5 years have been some of the most entertaining hockey this city has seen (well since the early 90s anyway).

After a night's rest, I'm still saying this edition of the Canucks is done. Time to rebuild - no shame in that (except maybe for the owners.)

As optimistic as we all want to be.
That's a load of bullshit.

Canucks have no heart, and the only two players even possible of carrying this team through at this point is Kesler and Luongo.
The scores will have to be 1-0, 1-0, 1-0, 1-0.
Maybe a 2-0 if they can hit an empty netter.

Kesler's only one forward, and he's not going to be able to consistently carry the team through the rest of the series. Luongo's not going to play like 2011 TT or 2012 Quick... and our defense is absolute shit compared to Boston's and LA's in those respective years. So you can't even blame the goalie.

Whoever thinks this series is "close" and could go either way needs to give their head a shake. Sharks dominated the Canucks all over the ice and out-chanced them by so much. Schneider had to make so many good saves until his breakdown. Their PP looks dangerous every time. And there's so much confidence when they move their puck from player to player. Our PP looks so sloppy, can only take shots from outside the perimeter, and point shots keep getting blocked by that asshole Couture.

How do we string 4 wins in a row if we can't even string 2 strong periods in a row...

We all want to hope for a miracle... but we're just laying out the hard truth.
We all knew we didn't have the talent to win the cup.
But I was expecting a bit more detemination to at least win 1 round.
This is so disappointing.

I played competitive sports for many years. Sometimes, you just don't have the horses to compete or elevate your game. The Canucks' supporting cast hasn't shown up and I suspect they just don't have another level.

Nabatron 05-06-2013 08:34 AM

Canucks lets face it guys are done like dinner...it would take an absolute miracle for them to even win 1 game yet let alone win 4 in a row! The team has no heart anymore it sad to see!

RiceIntegraRS 05-06-2013 08:36 AM

im not gonna lie, the Sharks have had the edge in this series. but i think being dominated is abit of a stretch. Take the PPs away and this is a totally different series. If the Sedins showup and Edler Hamhuis stop playing like shit they maybe we can have a better chance. Cause last thing i remember it takes 4 games to win a series.

Nabatron 05-06-2013 08:41 AM

Im making no excuses for this team since thats all they ever do is make excuses but from the drop of the puck they are always falling behind since the reffing is absolute trash! Sometimes your team just plays like trash...other times its the reffing that defines games sadly this series it alot of both.
