Also, anyone hear that the Canucks may not have a minor league team this year. They would borrow their prospects to other teams? Good job Canucks!

So much for Gillis saying to reporters last Thursday during his press conference about having more control over player development.
This move better not be part of Gillis' plan to " reset" the organization.

#Canucks will just loan their prospects to other AHL teams - Abbotsford Heat 1 of the teams.

#AHL source tells me this morning "Something is in the making, the #Canucks will have an affiliate next year".
| I honestly don't care about the affiliate team besides Lack and Schroeder |

Gillis said in his presser that we don't have time to "cook" players in the minors anymore... so we don't need a minor league team right? |

I think it matters to some extent what the coaches at the farm team level do in terms of developing our farm team players.
How the heck do you help guys like Lack and Schroeder in terms of controlling how your player's game is developed when they are rented out to different teams with coaches that have different coaching and teaching styles?
Would it not be confusing for our players to learn to play one system, get some training or no training from another NHL team's AHL affiliate coach, then get something completely different from another AHL team when they get rented out somewhere else?
It would be like one coach teaching you how to play your game a certain way. Then the next coach that you play for another AHL team tells you "That's old school. Nobody plays like that anymore. Maybe a couple of years ago."

It's about damn time for the NHL and Leafs to reward their biggest fan base.

Based on what Luongo would net us back these days, Id rather send him to Pittsburgh for nothing just to give him a shot at a cup.

Maybe a couple of years ago." | As far as I know the canucks organization bought an AHL franchise (i think it was Peiroa) with the intention of moving them to abbotsford so that they would be closer to the canucks and because of that they would be able to share a lot of the canucks resources with the canucks. Sort of similar to whats going on with the Marlies and the Leafs. Unfortunately it didnt work out for next season. Its a great idea... just the execution was kinda lacking.
...
Just like everything else with the canucks.... |
