Yeah and then Hamhuis is gonna do everything back there right?
Edler doesn't have the foot speed to be a forward anyways...

I don't see the reason not to try it. He seems to have chemistry with the twins especially during 4v4 and he slips down to the slot/half boards.
The canucks don't have any offensive players other than the sedins, I don't see why they can't try it.

Big Buff and Burns can forward cause they are straight up huge, and play big. Edler is billed at like ~210 but if you take a look at him in person there's no way hes 210.. lol
Edler can dish out a big hit every now and then but he's horrendously slow in every aspect and would just get bodied and thrown around like the Sedins (srs)
He takes about 20 years to shoot the puck at the net, we've all seen that. Overall, he's offensively minded but that doesn't mean it'll transition over well and he'll just be a defensive liability.............. oh wait....
You know what the funniest thing is? We experimented throwing Edler on the right side of the D pairing and it failed terribly, if you throw him with the Sedins he's gonna play RW. If he can't even switch sides on D, what makes you think he can play RW?

AVs shoes are going to be hard to fill.. Can't blame the guy, the team that was infront of him didn't perform. A new coach won't make much of a difference if we don't get some real offensive on this team next season. Posted via RS Mobile |

Posted via RS Mobile | On the other hand, sometimes a coach just falls on deaf ears after a while. Even the best coaches start to have decent teams start to play losing hockey in front of them after a long enough time. Well except Scottie Bowman

You could tell from the exit interviews that the players just don't want to play for AV anymore... I don't think any of us can sit here postulating why... but he had to go just because of that. Even Dan Hamhuis didn't support AV when asked and he's the nicest guy on the whole team.
As for Edler, I don't know guys... even talking to him in person on a few occasions... he's got no edge, he gets mad once in awhile or maybe someone challenges his manhood or something and he gets angry for a little bit... I totally got the impression from him the way he plays and how he is off the ice that he's someone who's really good at hockey but doesn't really *want* to be playing hockey (at least not in the NHL) and is just doing it because he can make a lot of money.

This is why I'm not really fond of the Sedins as team leaders, great as they are as players, as great as they are people outside of hockey.
Watching the team under their leadership, I sort of feel like they have a "another day at the office" approach to hockey. As an audience, its fun to see how happy they are when then win, but it's frustrating to see when they shrug off losses like, as mentioned, "oh just another day at the office", "we'll do better tomorrow" type of reaction.
For some reason (and I hate to look like I'm on other player's jock here), I love watching players like Burrows, or Hansen play. Even clearly their much lesser players, but play each and every game as if they're luck to even be in this game. But these players are the rarity and I have a feeling (more like a guess) that under the Sedin's leadership, that's just the culture within the dressing room (in regards to Edler's attitude towards hockey).
As much as I love Naslund, Henrik, (even previous captains Luongo), I've never felt we had such a captain that even I as a fan will go to battle for and am willing to break every bone in my body for my captain since the days of... T. Linden.
man those were some fond memories. |

Still advocated Kesler being captain. When he's healthy and not diving, he's more effective than the Sedin's, IMO Posted via RS Mobile |

Being the captain of a team isn't always about being more effective on the ice. From our perspective, it's easy to say that Kesler plays with more drive and because of that, the rest of the team gets fired up to play. The reality is though, that Kesler gets Kesler fired up, not the rest of the team. Game 2 against SJS he was in major beast mode, and everyone else was still awful.
While some people hate the 1040 guys, they were talking about this ~2 weeks ago, and didn't really back people saying "Kesler for captain". As journalists they're around the team more than most people, and were saying how the guys on the team all look at Hank as their leader on and off the ice, and even before he wore the C, he was a leader in the room. From what they were saying, Hank is vocal, intense, and passionate about the game. Again, it's easy to judge from what we see on TV, but we don't know what happens behind the doors of the locker room.
Making Kesler the captain isn't a relevant solution, and we wouldn't win more hockey games because of it. My 2C.
