This thread sucks. We really need some hockey news to debate or something.
Where are all the poolies at? People are probably getting ready for their draft in August? I'm in a keeper league where its pretty tough to go from the basement to the top. I'm essentially doing a build. I've drafted the last two calder winners along with Strome. I'm going to try and load up on draft picks for 2013. The feeling from a lot of well respected scouts is that 2013 draft is as deep or deeper than the 2003 draft. Take a look at that draft year. We got Kesler that year I think.
What value could I get if I trade Patrick Kane?

For some reason, I get really annoyed when people talk about pool drafts in here...
Its like how so many people started talking about Jerseys and then it spawned its own thread...
Which was the best idea ever. |

Mackinnon and Shinkaruk look like point producers (not including Jones because d-men are unpredictable for pt production). PKane is over-rated in pools because all he brings is assists and he's a rw/c. He may play centre for the second line like he did last year so trading him may be a good idea. I'd probably trade him at the deadline for a 2013 first rounder + more depending on how your league perceives his value.

Which was the best idea ever. | I agree with you, but have you seen the last several pages of this thread? People are talking about what it would be like if Bure played with the sedins in his prime...
I'm just trying to get discussion going. But I get the hint, and if there was a need a new pool thread would be created.

100 million 13 yrs - like suter/parise and the rest of the front loader contracts (crosby, quick, staal)

In a perfect world Nashville tanks this year and they know for sure Weber wont re-sign with them. The Canucks knowing this will offer Nashville a nice little package of picks and players for Weber. The package will be better than what other teams will offer Nashville because teams wont give up too much for a "rental player". Thats if we know for sure that Weber will re-sign with us and no other team.
Wishful thinking........

Wishful thinking........ | What do the Canucks have to give up that Nashville would want? I can't think of anyone and there are a whole lot more teams out there with a lot more to give.

and I would be happy if we gave either up to get Weber, Don't think they would take Edler tho with only 1 yr left on his contract.

While that's a fair trade, that would put a huge hole down the middle. Strong centers in the top 2 or 3 lines has been essential to the last...oh...10 Stanley Cup winning teams?

If we are able to snag Weber and sign him up long term.. I think his jersey could be one of the biggest seller lol..
I'd be the first few in line that's for sure haha
Weber- Hamhuis
Bieksa-Garrison
as top 4. |

I'd say something like:
Edler, Roster player [Booth/Hansen etc], Prospect [Jensen/Gaunce], 1st rounder for Weber
--
In the end, I think the best route would be for MG to offersheet Weber for 1 year, 7.8M.
If Nashville matches, they virtually lose him for nothing when Weber hits free agency.
If Nashville doesn't, we give up Two first-round picks and a second- and third-round pick.
No point in giving up a load of assets if MG can basically get him for free next free agency [if he makes it that far]. The best case scenario would be like the Jordan Staal situation. If Weber actually only wanted to play for Vancouver, Poile would have to make a hockey deal with Vancouver like how Staal wanted to only play for Carolina with Eric.
