RT @checktheticker: Per @DFriedmanWFAN, Flyers deal for Mark Streit is for 4-years, $22M

AV is officially the head coach of NYR. 5 yr deal.
Vigneault agrees to five-year deal with Rangers - Sportsnet.ca

I think had Malkin hit the open market, somebody would have offered him 10M+/yr. Keep in mind he was making 9M in the seasons prior to this one where he only got 7.5M. Crosby's caphit is 'only' 8.7M, but its a 12y contract where he's only making 3M for the last 3 years vs. Malkin's 8yr max under new CBA terms making 9.5M all the way through.

I actually like tortorella as a head coach; he's really entertaining to watch.

I pay to watch the team. I could care less if the coach had as much entertainment value as a statue, as long as he gets the players to play and win game. I still find it difficult believing the Tortorella rumours

highfive 06-17-2013 01:43 PM

Holy Shit. Big pay day for AV. How much do coaches usually get?

Meh...he got 1.8M/yr when he was in VAN i think

200K raise lol

Mike Oxbig 06-17-2013 02:31 PM

Kassian is not ready for 2nd line action! Stop lying to yourselves Canuck fans. He is either going to be on the 1st line baby sit by the sedins feeding him passes or on the 4th line maybe AHL too.

Lappy suits more for the 4th like Right Wing with 240 hits a season and can score on the shoot out

Expresso 06-17-2013 03:17 PM

So looks like Briere and Bryzgalov are going to be Philly's buyouts. Does anyone know the math on the Bryzgalov buy out? Talk about money to burn.

Mike Oxbig 06-17-2013 03:19 PM

Philly is one of the most profitable franchise they have the money to burn, that's why they offered shea weber that ridiculous fatass contract. Talk about bullying financial struggling franchises.

Ronin 06-17-2013 03:20 PM

According to CapGeek, if they bought out Bryz today, it would be...

2013-14: -$690,476
2014-15: $1,309,524
2015-16: $1,309,524
2016-17: $1,809,524
2017-18: $1,809,524
2018-19: $5,059,524
2019-20: $6,059,524
2020-21: $1,642,857
2021-22: $1,642,857
2022-23: $1,642,857
2023-24: $1,642,857
2024-25: $1,642,857
2025-26: $1,642,857
2026-27: $1,642,857

That's just horrific. $6m for Bryz NOT to play on their team in 2019/2020. And people think Lu's contract is ridiculous.

Briere's isn't great either but no worse than Darcy Tucker.

2013-14: $4,333,333
2014-15: $5,333,333
2015-16: $833,333
2016-17: $833,333

Crazy. Makes it seem more likelier that Luongo may eventually just be bought out if a deal can't be made soon.

LOl, Philly has probably had the worst luck with their goaltenders, lots of drama, lots of terrible decisions but they're balling as fuck so they can do whatever the hell they want

Signs Bryz to a ludicrous, terrible contract that inevitably will need to be bought out... leaving them with Mason as their #1..
Traded Bobrovsky for cheap, and then he goes on to win the Vezina
Let Eriksson walk for nothing.. who has potential to be solid NHL #1 goaltender within a few years
They should just top it all off and trade us Couturier for Lu

Future Canucks NHL/AHL goalie tandems

Schnoo/Lack
Cannata/Eriksson

hnnnng..
inb4 Sunshine becomes the better Viktor Fasth

Avs unwilling to trade #1 overall as well, rumors around saying Feaster offered all three 1st rounders for it.... :lawl: and Regier offered Miller, Grigorenko, a defensive prospect and their 8th overall pick too, quite frankly I'd take the second offer and RUNNN

You pulled some bad numbers. Bryz's actual payout is 1.64/yr over however many years are left on his contract times 2 (16 in this case). What you posted is the caphit to the flyers, which is all over the map due to the crazy frontloaded contracts. Tough to swallow a 5m and 6m caphit with nothing to show for it, one of the reasons why Lu will absolutely not get bought out, at least not by the canucks, 5.2m and 2 seasons of 5.8m caphits from 2019- 2022.

Weak 2 lines if you compare it the the cup contenders of 2013. Unfortunately our current depth sucks monkey nuts.

Sedin Sedin - Legit power forward
- No second line -
Kassian - Kesler - Burrows

AlpineEcstasy 06-17-2013 04:58 PM

Not really a fan of either team, but at least the games so far have been great to watch. Lets hope the entire series stays this close and goes to 7!

Kesler does well as a checking centre who can contribute some scoring, but to rely solely on him to be a second line centre is asking a bit too much imo.
