The issue with Kesler is health and consistency. If you're going to bank on someone to play 2nd line, you cant have kes. Season after season has shown he can't step up.
I understand that Kes is modeled to be a 2nd liner, but taking a checking role isn't a downgrade, he'll become an asset instead of a liability.
I'm not hating on Kesler, just being a realist.

If you guys wanna be realists then..... a 5 million dollar 3rd line centre with a lowered cap is pretty expensive

Very telling, Rask has been great, but Chara and B's defense has just been amazing keeping everything to the outside.

someone post the Faceoffs, Hits and Shot block. It's nearly double for the Bruins compare to the blackhawks.

Hmm, there's no doubt the Defense of the Bruins is a huge help for Rask. I mean, penalty kills have been incredible.
If Bruins win, and Rask posts good #'s still, does he get the Con Smyth? Some say there's bias (popular vote), could be Chara/krejic.
But I say Rask, for the sake of Thomas winning in 2011, with similar #s. Didn't realize Rask has 6 shut outs as well.

The past 2 and including this stanley cup play offs, goal tending has been so clutch it is mind blowing.
Thomas, Quick and now Crawford or Rask, their numbers are top notch!

Tough to swallow a 5m and 6m caphit with nothing to show for it, one of the reasons why Lu will absolutely not get bought out, at least not by the canucks, 5.2m and 2 seasons of 5.8m caphits from 2019- 2022. | No one cares what the payout is. That's irrelevant to hockey. That's only for the owners and the player to give a shit about. I've said it plenty of times before, actual salary or actual money is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT. Cap hit is all that matters because it determines what a team can spend.
Do we care that Lu's contract paid him $10m in the first year? Do we care that Tyler Myers made like $12m last year? How about Ehrhoff making $10m? None of that matters. Cap hit and contract length is all we care about.

Cap hit and contract length is all we care about. | Actually, you are wrong. This is the first time that cap hit is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT, and actual salary/money is relevant. We are talking compliance buyouts, stay on topic. Wade Reddon and Scott Gomez couldn't get a buyout prior to the new CBA due to the caphits hitting their prior teams, so its a moot point to discuss Bryz or Lu getting bought out without the compliance outclause.
If Bryz is compliance bought out, what you said above is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT to quote your own words. So no, the caphit doesn't actually matter, nor do we care about it at all, in this instance. The only guy that will care is the guy cutting the cheque for the next 16 years.

And Lu's contract will handcuff a team for 3 years at 5M+/yr during his twillight years, Bryz's is only 2 years at 5M+/yr. So who has the better contract again?

it completely depends on the team that they are on. a team that is trying to make the cap floor would probably prefer luongos contract. add to the fact you are paying more for a goalie like bryz compare to luongo . cap will always go up so there's would be room to accept the final 3 years. its honestly not as bad as people make it out to be. luongo is still highly wanted around the league its just gms are just being dicks because the player requested a trade and the canucks need to sign players with little cap the next year. think of how the heatley demand worked, he was in great demand, but gms knew murray was fucked. the way the trade worked out, ott got way less than they thought they would and are lucky those players panned out

Like you said, it's whether or not they want to flush 20M+ down the toilet to buyout Bryz or Lu. Thats probably the Only way to fit Streit.
