Yes.

But...Green is the only defenseman to break the 30-goal mark since the early 90s. People still remember 31-42-73 Mike Green...not play 30 games and be awful in all of them Mike Green.

murd0c 07-15-2012 10:15 PM

yes Green can score but he has had 2 bad years and hes more of a liability then anything

jeedee 07-15-2012 11:25 PM

You guys are nuts.

I'd kill for Green to be on our team.

Edler-Green pairing?

:sweetjesus:

dbaz 07-15-2012 11:44 PM

id never play green with edler. if he was on the team id want him to play with hamhuis or garrison, defensive dman. then green can just join the rush whenever.

Gilgamesh 07-15-2012 11:46 PM

I'm not saying he's bad. I just wouldn't think he would have leverage after 2 lackluster seasons.

b0unce. [?] 07-16-2012 02:11 AM

green is good when he's healthy. but man this guy is so injury prone =/

News1130 We have learned that #Canucks goalie Eddie Lack has said no to Vancouver's qualifying offer
Interesting. I think Lack deserves to be an NHL backup, maybe he's worried he'll be buried in the minors again this year? Hopefully Gillis figures it out and gets Lack signed. He's still an RFA, but it would be great to have him back.

dbaz 07-16-2012 06:37 AM

nhl starter no, backup yes. also budaj or more specifically his gear was spotted at yvr by dan murphy. tryout?

He needs to be a backup before he's a starter no questions asked. I think he's worried that hes going to be in the AHL again if Lu isn't traded and he doesn't want that at all.

kristianhay 07-16-2012 06:42 AM

Woops, typo haha sorry guys. 100% meant backup as opposed to starter. Don't shoot.

I saw the Budaj tweet by Murph and doubt it's anything, probably just here to train if anything. I think he's still on contract with Montreal.

7seven 07-16-2012 07:00 AM

I think Lack needs some more time in the AHL or even Swedish elite league to grow mentally before the NHL. Nolan Baumgartner, who just retired from the Wolves and is now an assistant coach with them when asked about Lack, said he probably need more time to mature and figure out how to be a pro daily.

Cap's re-sign Mike Green for 3yrs $18.25mill

sonick 07-16-2012 09:03 AM

He couldn't land any big tuna free agents this off-season, so he decided to land an actual big tuna. He named it "Shea"

^ Can't wait till training camp. Looks like he'll have more potential than Raymond.

In case anyone is looking for it.

Way to fucking inflate dman salaries. I suppose Mr. "one year wonder" Garrison is pretty good at $4.6. If players like Green is getting $6 million. I wonder what Edler and Weber is going to get?

With the CBA to expire, everyone is wondering what they would get.

RiceIntegraRS 07-16-2012 11:18 AM

a healthy Mike Green @ 6 mil is still a good signing imo.

That is true, a lot of people are expecting a roll back on salaries like last time.

I highly doubt it will be the same this time or we are going to miss another season of hockey.

We'll see this season what Edler is really made of, playing without his safety blanket aka Sami Salo. I expect pt production will likely remain about the same, but we'll see how he is defensively. On the flip side it'd be nice for Garrison to chip in 30 pts to replace Salo's production, but offering Salo's consistent defensive play is where he'll earn his paycheque IMO.

Guys like Green and Erik Karlsson are not the norm, putting up big (for d-men) offensive production with barely mediocre defensive play yet GM's are willing to throw the big money at them.

I wasn't aware Edler has scored 30 goals, and has been nominated for the Norris twice? When Green is healthy, he holds more value than Edler.

IF Green can find his form, $6mill is a steal

I agree. It sucks because the Canucks schedule this year is suppose to be very favourable, or at least better than it has been in long long time. While people like Bob Mackenzie are preaching patience, I think the sky is falling and at the very least the season is shortened. Shortened season for the Canucks, at first I though may be good (rest for Kesler and no rush to hurry back), but on second thought, the travel is going to kill this team.

True but that's going to be a really big IF.

How's the travel going to kill this team?

MR_BIGGS 07-16-2012 05:23 PM

With a shortened season, the NHL is going to try and pack in as many games as they can in a short period of time. The Canucks are considered a veteran team, not good for their legs IMO.
