actually, i proposed Ballard, Raymond, X player, and a First rounder for Bobby Ryan
Gee.. it's not so far fetched as you clowns made it seem now that a FAR superior player in Nash goes for slightly more?
*yawn
thats completely different though imo, Nash really fucked Columbus with his list of like 5 teams he would agree to go to, where as Ryan could be dealt anywhere and is on a much better contract. It also sure didn't help with Howson as GM .. that guy was demanding for like an under 23 franchise type F back + their first born child, like its not going to help when you already down to 5 teams and you just piss like 3 of them off with your shitty trade demands, he wanted Couture from SJ and I believe a first round pick LOL.
Fuck Kassian, until he proves himself he still a fucking AHL plug

Easy bro, Kassian got your jimmies rustled? Im sorry about that. But lets give the kid a break. Hes 21 years old and only played half a season with the Canucks. EVERYONE (but you) knows hes still in development. You're just making yourself look like a complete moron
Lol, how are people calling Kassian an AHL plug? The kid is 21. SMFH
lol where did i ever say definitively thats what i figured would get him?
I said nonchalantly to package those 2 up in an attempt at Ryan, then people run with it as me being 100% serious that that could work out..
Now that Nash moves for that, a package involving those 2 is not out of the realm of possibility, it will most likely never happen but EXACTLY as i said, his value would be along similar lines to what i said, and when a player like Nash goes for value such as that, it's not exactly far-fetched..
and dont let the no trade clause fool you, that may have lessened the value slightly, but when your dealing with a team like the Rangers you have all the power you need to broker a deal their hands were not tied as tight as you may think when the teams Nash is willing to go to are also most of the power brokers in this league.

Wasn't it from 7seven (a Sabre fan) that stated, it wasn't the ability that was Kassian's problem that ultimately had him being shipped out. It was his work ethic? (or maybe it was Gragnani?)
Anyways, If what I recall is correct, and the above is true, then it really doesn't matter how fit he is, how athletic he may be, it's a matter of whether he can bring it night in and night out; and not pick and choose his games.
And considering his role, I'm not even going to bother rating him based on how much points he accumulates. All I just want from him is to keep throwing his weight even when times get tough; not when pick and choose easy games with teams who are smaller and/or less physical.
If he can do just that and only that.. I'll be satisfied in his contribution.
I don't hate Kassian. I'm sure he's a nice guy, and maybe in a few years he'll play a more significant role. Just don't act like he's already a star, because he's barely an NHLer yet.
No one is acting like he's a star. Depending on how he develops over the season
Booth-Kesler-Kassian
Would make a solid, physical power line
Kassian won't be a 2nd liner by the start of next season
give it 2-4 years to see how he develops
Hopefully he goes through the same developmental process as burrows (Vancouver is pretty amazing at developing players) did and turn out into a milan lucic type player

The fans are making him look that way not him... hopefully the push by the fans made him work extra hard this summer and we will see a big improvment this season. Not only that being such a young player being traded might of had a impact on his progression so with a full training camp he should hopefully adjust easier this year.
Hodgson was on OTR last week. His goal for the season is 30 goals. His training with Roberts has him looking pretty lean. Definately put on some weight, but looks in great shape.

An interesting article about what Gillis discussed during his radio interview with Team1040on July 23rd. I know Gillis does things a little differently than other GMs in terms of draft strategy, player development, free agent signings, and trades, but it sounds like he's a big supporter of analytics.

From the beginning (even before the movie came out) he's mentioned that his philosophy for managing the team is modeled after ideas from Moneyball.
Great article, nonetheless.
