[QUOTE=caronimo;7985394]at the end of the year luongo said he would waive his no-trade clause but now only wants to be dealt to florida. how is that putting the team first? reports are he is declining a trade to toronto or chicago.

is there any legit sources that said hes declining a trade to those places? hockeyinsiderr does not count.

ToddPacker 07-25-2012 04:32 PM

why can't we keep both goalies?

tandem of luongo and schneider would be absolutely great, and could possibly work since the NHL salary cap has been increased (?)

Cause having two goalies that deserve/want a starting position is not healthy for a team. Plus, a waste of money anyhow.
The tandem is better than trading Luongo for a bag of pucks, but it's really not the idea situation.

We did keep both goalies last year and it didn't out well.

I'd rather trade one of them for secondary scoring cause this team can't score for shit.

It's also "a waste of money" because it's bad asset management to have 9-10M locked up in 2 goalies when we could be using half that money for a top 6 forward.

RiceIntegraRS 07-25-2012 11:09 PM

Dale Weise re-signs with the Canucks at 615K. I like this signing its cheap, we know wat he brings to the table.

spoon.ek9 07-25-2012 11:56 PM

that's pretty dirt cheap. i'm happy he didn't get like $1mil or something stupid like that.

punkwax 07-26-2012 06:09 AM

Canucks can't score for shit? They were 5th last year in goals for IIRC.

Oh man it must suck to play for Winnipeg. First you have to live in Winnipeg, then they take half your fucking money! Jesus

Also read on twitter that he's been training with a boxing coach and knows the role he has to fill this year. He said he's more comfortable with his position and knows he needs to step it up this year. Good to hear.

Seems that our players are dedicated to being better this year, which is really nice to see.

Boxing coach? Is this the norm in the NHL or one of Gillis' out of the box thinking?

sonick 07-26-2012 09:01 AM

Not norm, but not totally 'out of the box'. Several players train/have trained in MMA or Boxing.

kwy 07-26-2012 09:11 AM

And the top four are in the Eastern Conference, which pads the regular season stats even more.

Regular season can only mean so much. Canucks can't score for shit during the playoffs.

spideyv2 07-26-2012 11:03 AM

a big reason for that is cause the Sedin's cycle game gets completely shut down

highfive 07-26-2012 11:14 AM

That and our offence from our D gets completely shut down too.

I always noticed that once the opposing team aggressively forechecks/hits our D, our D would start to crumble and fall apart. The lack of a good first pass to our forwards. IMO, I just think our D is too small to face big checkers coming in. Hopefully a big D like Garrison would anchor our D much better.

7seven 07-26-2012 11:17 AM

Speaking of needing bigger Dmen, Canucks posted this picture of Tanev today

Someone give him a cheeseburger and explain to him what barbells and dumbbells are haha.

Semin signs 1 year deal with Carolina.
1 year, $7mil. Carolina should be much better with Jordan Staal and Semin

MR_BIGGS 07-26-2012 11:23 AM

A one year deal worth $7M for Semin. Canes should be pretty fun to watch next season.
