Ads on jerseys can be okay. I love the look of soccer jerseys.

jeedee 07-29-2012 08:07 PM

I actually don't mind the ads aswell. If it's simple like the Team Canada IIHF jersey's i'd be fine with it:

But if it's this....

Ads don't belong in the big 4 North American sports.

Because 1) it looks fucking stupid and 2) it won't lower prices

At this point, I'm surprised ads haven't already taken over sports jerseys and equipment. It's strange how much more advertising goes on in European hockey than over here.

SkinnyPupp 07-29-2012 11:03 PM

Because they do it in soccer, so the standard is set there. Over here, if NFL teams start doing it, that is when I'd expect NHL, NBA, and MLB to follow suit. Until then, HOPEFULLY we are safe. Otherwise you'll look like those tools wearing "Manchester Vodaphones" jerseys, and your team will be the "Vancouver Rogers"

Tim Budong 07-29-2012 11:11 PM

The canucks already sell ad space on their practice jerseys to RONA
but thats all I can stand for now

seakrait 07-29-2012 11:37 PM

Depends on the company advertising, no?

There's nothing like paying money to advertise for a Corporation on your body.

#Canucks has signed Guillaume Desbiens
Depth plug signing, was pretty much useless when he played for us before.

b0unce. [?] 07-30-2012 10:05 AM

and will still be useless :lol

RiceIntegraRS 07-30-2012 10:15 AM

He was pretty useless for us. Id rather go sign tambelinni. Atleast he could contribute in some way. I will always remember him when he caught up to martin erat in the 2011 playoffs

7seven 07-30-2012 11:04 AM

Desbiensis is just one of the guys AV has a hard on for, no matter how much they screw up, AV will still give them a free pass, see Glass, Rome, Bolduc

Desbiens and Bolduc would get more points because he can talk dirty in French to AV.

Glass Rome????:lawl:

Reporter Kevin Allen with USA Today is suggesting the reason the Canucks-Panthers haven't been able to secure a deal is because of Nick Bjugstad.

Quote:

Roberto Luongo hasn't been traded: The Florida Panthers are the best fit for the Vancouver Canucks goalie, but GM Dale Tallon won't give up prized prospect Nick Bjugstad to land him. The Panthers are as excited about his potential as they are about Jonathan Huberdeau. Bjugstad is playing at the University of Minnesota and seems ready to play in the NHL. Luongo was popular when he played in Florida before, plus he could be the lift the team needs to offset big moves by the Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning. Canucks GM Mike Gillis is acting as if he is willing to go into the season with Luongo on his roster. But that would clearly be an uncomfortable situation with Cory Schneider seemingly set to be No. 1. Plus, no GM wants a $5.333 million cap hit as his backup goalie. Keep in mind that the Toronto Maple Leafs still are interested in upgrading their goaltending.
Article: Pressing issues keep NHL offseason busy

I don't mind having both Lu and Schiends start the season for the Canucks. I may be in the minority but if the season starts on time, and they both remain on the Canucks, I think Luongo's value goes up. Granted he's a slow starter, but if he plays consistency well and teams that are interested have goalies that shit the bed, it could increase the value for a veteran proven goalie.

Ronin 07-30-2012 12:19 PM

We don't need that distraction. Trade one or the other.

Fuck off Tallon...you aren't getting Lu without ONE of those top prospects. We aren't Columbus.
