Out of curiosity, are you guys still buying parts from the US even with the shitty Canadian dollar? |

The price for a lot of stuff is going to go up locally sooner rather than later. Nothing has changed, the US is still miles cheaper. As a comparison I am getting a new set of tires right now. KalTire wants $458 a tire, whereas discount tire in the states had them on sale for $170 a tire when I bought them 2 weeks ago. Even with the exchange rate, my time, my gas, taxes, I am still miles ahead. Couple that with a grocery trip, and a 1/2 price tank of gas over the border and it offsets my costs greatly. |

However it's not necessarily true that the US is still miles cheaper. Your situation was not the norm as it was on sale. What was the regular USD price and is KalTire the best comparison for tire prices in CAD? With that said, I've been trying to buy locally now due to the exchange for most of my items unless it's a US only item. |
Yes, it has affected the amount that I shop for car stuff. Not new stuff though, mostly private sale stuff from various classifieds. When the dollar was par(or close to it) I was buying wheels like crazy(I'm a bit of a wheel whore) but now that has taken a backseat. Same with rare, discontinued hard to find parts. It has really affected my desire to buy a car from the US now as well. NSX and P-car shopping has been put on hold now. Since my company pays for my gas I could give a fuck about gas prices and wish our dollar was better. |

I got the cheaper $450 price from Kal Tire when I told them the US price for the tires. Volco said they can do as low as like 400, but then once we nailed down the sizing he said he can't get those tires (i'm pretty sure he can get them, but he just dug himself a hole on the price, and didn't want to honour it). There is a way around this, just buy a ton of USD right now. The dollar likely won't be going back unless something sparks a change, and you can either spend the money, or just change it back and make money off the exchange rate. I mentioned somewhere else, I exchanged a bunch of money awhile back at a good exchange rate, so I don't fret about it any longer...:) |

TEIN Street Basis coils http://i.imgur.com/aMKUsu3.png Complete set of new OEM parts reused by coils http://i.imgur.com/Qgi5rVD.png ST Suspensions rear sway bar http://i.imgur.com/qySEJK1.png Brb eating dirt for the next month or two  Still need to decide between Skunk2, Blackworks, or Function7 rear LCAs. Everything will be installed along with front poly compliance bushings and the rear LCAs once I decide on a pair. |
Nice suspension mods. In terms of quality I'd give the edge to F7, then S2 then BWR. |
'59 needed some bits. Used is always better than new when it comes to classic cars, and AVR parts managed to scour their pile for some needed items. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7462/...6477043b_z.jpg And this is the pile of stuff that we couldn't find used, or items where good-quality reproductions are made. Basically a pile of rubber grommets and seals, with some wiper and turn signal items tossed in for fun. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7472/...f01102f2_z.jpg |
Just got an email back from AutoAnything saying the sway bar I ordered has been discontinued for three years and they made a mistake on their site and on their eBay vendor by still listing them as in-stock :seriously: Called the only two online vendors left online showing they carry the sway bar, both said they have no leftover stock and there is no way to obtain the rear sway bar anymore :okay: So I bought these instead :lawl: http://www.boombopracing.com/ebay/pi...-05-0205-1.jpg I know F7 is better in terms of quality, but there's a ton of Elements online with Skunk2 LCAs installed whereas there's only one rolling around with F7, went with the safer option. EDIT: first round of parts picked up :fuckyea: http://i.imgur.com/B46ZoUr.jpg |
Not a "car part" per se but more inspiration for my next project. http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...psx0u5jqxg.jpg |
Dropped by crappy tire for shop towels and saw that select 4.4l jugs of Mobil 1 were on sale for $20 off (regular $50)...grabbed a couple...plenty left at steveston |
Just ordered my dream wheels for my Legacy B4 *Picture borrowed from the internet* http://i933.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps9b399ae8.jpg |

https://scontent-a-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/...1e&oe=554C146E These arrived by Canpar at work today. With the weak dollar, this actually cost less than if I were to get a similar setup in the states. I'm early putting them on, but once I get my lowering springs from my aunt on the weekend, they'll be installed by the middle of next week. |

Got a set of M3 LTW/GT carbon door sills to pretend I'm driving an m3 GT even more than I already do. http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/at...2&d=1175527202 Also, kind of unrelated, but my wife and Mom rented me a new 911 turbo for a day for my 30th birthday. I'll be spending April 14th with it. Its money spent on a car, so I figured I'd post it here. |
Finally got me a set of Desmond Regamasters Marquis Promada. Should be receiving then next week :) |
^^staggered or square set up? Specs? Center caps included? |
Aaaaand the Skunk2 LCAs I bought from eBay are missing the steel mounting plates required for install, just noticed that today. Contacted the seller, he's willing to have me return them for a full refund, but I'm in contact with Skunk2 who's taking forever to check their warehouse to see if they have any spare mounting plates they can sell to me |
Just ordered a steering wheel hub and a slim quick release. Also have whiteline rear sway bar on the way. |
Staggered 17x8 +35, 17x9 +38 with center caps and valve stems |
