Another set to add to the collection. Unfortunately they were all damaged during shipping(bent lips) .
Currently getting repaired and waiting for a response on my claim. Either way, I'm happy as I've always wanted a set.
If cats always land on their feet, and toast always lands butter side down, what would happen if you strapped burnt toast to the back of a cat and dropped it?
Why go through the hassle of a K20 swap? There's lots of bolt in options.
I don't have one reason for doing it. It's a unique motor swap and I feel like the MR2 would be a perfect platform for it. I could of gone with 3gen, 4gen or a 2gr swap but I want something different. The k20a2 is very capable in stock form, I think it is more capable than the Toyota line up of motors, maybe I'm wrong but I plan to find out. I am installing dual springs and a few small upgrades to it to handle a bit of boost. The aftermarket support is huge and less expensive compared to 3sgte. I see that it is being installed in different makes of cars (NSX, Miatas, etc.) kind of like the LS# for different makes of muscle cars.
I find the MR2 can be fine tuned and started to cherry pick from other cars like the S2000 seats now the K20a2. I used to own a modded 1992 Prelude S with the f22a1 and swapped in a jdm h22a w/5 speed lsd tranny and a SRV interior back in 2004 and drove it as a DD for a few years. I loved that car, the h22a had a mild build and I was impressed with the power and reliability.
I guess I will find out in spring time if it was worth it.
Can't wait to see the outcome of your build! Any of these swaps been done locally? Know of any 4th gen swaps locally as well?
Thanks, I'll be posting the build on RS + other forums. Russ (Immortality) has done the 2gr swap and had his car featured on Smoking Tire. I don't know any gen4 swaps around here, mostly in the US.
More parts will be showing up very soon (custom turbo, manifold, etc.)
I posted a video in the bad ass video section of a guy swapping a k20 in a porsche. It's just the way it is now, best bang for your dollar.
And a fully built k20a2 turbo in a NA1 NSX.
Never knew something like this existed, so I bought one. No more brake kits and c clamps as I recently repainted my 4 piston calipers. Ratcheting brake piston compressor.
Ouch. Sorry to hear that. I have bad experience from buying on supraforums a few years back as well. From someone with positive ratings too. Bought what was supposingly a Supra TT ECU off his car. Turned out to be an Aristo ECU. Was banged up and shitty/shady. Seemed more to be junkyard goods.
