Help me decide which car...

Given the price of the cars are the same (not in Canada), here are some choices that I should make.
The car will be my daily driving in a city where has million of motorcycles or scooters around so dents and scratches are expected. Traffic jam is everywhere but I want to have a nice driving car as well as comfort. It's kinda not apple to apple comparison but let's see what you guys think and choose.

Choices:
- Toyota FT86 (nice new toy in the market)
- Subaru STi sedan (the most powerful choice)
- Mercedes C200 (yes, it has only 2L engine on this one)
- BMW 320i
- or even a toyota Camry Hybrid 2.5L (it has massage chair on the rear passengers)

I will mod it a little bit such as the shoes and potentially the spring depends on the car, of course.

When you can choose one of them to be your only car, which one would you choose?

i would choose FT86 solely because i just saw it today and i am completely in love with how it looks haha.

well my choice would be either that or STi, and STi seems a little too powerful in this crowded city you speak of, that you wouldn't be able to use it to your full potential

Interesting choice, please tell me why. The camry here has 3 trims (including the hybrid and each trim has about $10K spread) the price of the car here is insane. Price of M3 here is equal to an Aston Martin in Canada, at least you can get an R8 there.

Back to camry, the non-hybrid one has massage seats and it's about $10K cheaper but it's almost traffic jam everywhere that's why I'm actually thinking to go hybrid. Idk if it's still a good choice. Save $10K or hybrid?

new camry's nice I drove it a few times for work. It's a fullsize car + fuel economy of a compact .. can't go wrong. My parents might be buying one soon as an everyday car. It's very practical for what you need

where do you live? sounds like you live in a typical heavily congested Asian city, therefore you should choose the BMW or Mercedes. comfy while sitting in traffic. not to mention the "balla" status for when you meet people (specifically girls ).

Yeah, I might ask for a test drive soon. I tried CX5 couple days ago but not impressed. Currently, I'm driving either Nissan Juke or Honda CRV (previous gen) whichever my parents leave me to drive. Wishing to have Lexus RX Hybrid the money is not enough. LoL...

Yeah, you're right. However, I need to see how much gas those euro cars will take considering it's very congested. I drove a CLK350 in Vancouver and I love it, but hate when filling up the gas. LoL...

STI & FT86 are far and beyond from comfortable, STI hurts my ass if its a long haul, FT86 has the same type of seats too except more bolstering.

Grab yourself the euro car, they are built for comfort

whats the point of buying a spirited sports car if your place is full of traffic jams with motorcycles and scooters everywhere? i honestly think a loaded camry hybrid fits your need given the circumstances.

definitely the euro's would be more comfortable. no point getting any of the sportier cars if you want daily comfort in traffic jams and such.

i don't know about wherever you live but here i believe 320i's are nicely loaded, apparently even base model has navi already.

handles nicely for a sedan, the c class drives like a boat.

and the new 4 cyl is good on gas too! no hybrid but hey it'll be more fun than the camry in case you ever drive at night without cars!

it doesn't fit the OP's situation at all.. traffic jams and congested streets everywhere. why would you want to drive a cramped 2 seater? (most likely manual too)

your euro choices are 2.0L 4cylinder engines. they'll be a lot better on gas compared to your v6 CLK350

I still want to hear what city you are currently living in. but that's just me being nosey.

the FT86 and STi are nice.. if they were your second cars. could probably buy one down the road used from the money you save on gas/ maintenance compared to all the others.

Bmw and Mercedes are nice.. but when it comes to cheap running, the Camry is king!

i drove a camry for 5 years and can honestly say its a very comfortable and easy driving car. perfect as a daily driver.

when i get the chance i'll be picking a new model up as a daily driver.


rather than a hybrid model I would personally go for the 4 cylinder version if they have it where ever you live.

I would go camry or the 86... depends on you're age and what you'd like i suppose

if you wanted something sporty/fun 86 if you don't care about that or lean towards a more mature look/feel/comfort then camry

The 86 and the STi are for 'fun', but if you are indeed in a congested asian city then there will be no fun to be had. I've been in the STi and it is extremely uncomfortable. I can't imagine it as a DD.

The BMW/Merc would be either of my choices, comfortable with a decent engine as well.

The camry is still too grand-father-ish for my tastes.

I was looking at The FT, and while that would be the car of choice for picking up chicks etc, being relatively cool and all, it's a still a Subaru in Toyota clothing and I'm loathe to get the repair bill for it. ideally for heavy bike traffic like in Vietnam/Korea/Thailand/India, it'd end up being worth less than the Subaru inside of 6 months from all the rock chips and such, that said, I'd take the Beemer, over the Camry, even though the econ choice would be the camry.

C200? 320i? I wouldn't think about a base mb or bmw.
Go for the STi or FT86.

I drove a 320i for a few days averaging 8.xL/100km for city driving only. My 128i averages 11.3L/100km in the city.

I really like the quiet and comfortable ride as well. Enough power, and great on gas. Got my vote.

Camry Hybrid.

Swap in SE suspension if its too boring, the STI and FT86 will kick your ass literally(and your legs too)

Base BMWs and Mercs are not cool to drive.

Yeah, right now a lot of people ordering the FT86 for their second, third or tenth car and it's selling like a hot cake. I'm still waiting to test drive the camry hybrid as Toyota here never have hybrid before so it's going to be the first one. In the mean time, I see that the C200 is still wearing a classic bumper, not AMG one so if I get a MB, I need to swap it for the looks. I haven't seen the new BMW 3 series yet as it just launched earlier.

How is the BMW reliability? I owner a few model of MB and they are reliable and last long, not as long as Toyota. Also, i heard many friends have bad experience with BMW. What do you think? Will BMW last long at least 7 years without any major or funny break down? Regular maintenance is acceptable but overhauled is not.

Which country are we talking about? Is repair/maintenance labour cheap there? Does Euro parts cost a lot more/cheaper the Japanese parts there? Believe it or not, Hong Kong MB parts are dirty CHEAP due to the volume(yes cheaper than toyota or honda parts if you know where to buy).
