Carry On Luggage

Will be flying from YVR to Los Angeles next week for holidays. I haven't flown on a plane in 2 years now and the last time I flew out of Seattle.

I am planning to bring a carry on backpack with me with my DSLR camera on the plane with another luggage bag. I heard my friend say that the security is "strict" in terms of electronic" carry ons. Is that true?

I would love to be able to carry my DSLR to holidays and take plenty of photos. But I don't want security to be all over my ass for bringing my DSLR. Last thing I want is for them to confiscate my expensive camera.

One's a camera backpack, but I can put stuff in like food and water bottle. The other is a luggage case, the ones that has the extender with two wheels I can pull.

Yeah shouldn't be a big deal... while working at YVR, I had more experiences dealing with international departures and their security restrictions, but as far as I remember for the U.S side, it wasn't much different, and was never a issue.

I would imagine bringing the DSLR bag is no different than bringing a separate laptop bag, so shouldn't be a problem

By the way, you won't be able to put water in the DSLR bag before going through security anyways... and the only food they'll allow are the ones you get at the YVR food court

Shouldn't be an issue as I always see people with 1 carry on + either 1 purse, laptop bag, camera bag etc. To my memory the rule is 1 carry on + 1 small bag such as a purse or in your case camera bag. Heck on top of that you are usually permitted to have a couple shopping bags as well. Although the shopping bags are when I'm flying back home which might be why it's not a big deal. Departing might be overkill but not sure.

Yep, carry on + purse (man or otherwise) is OK as of 5/12 to AZ USA.
