^maybe you should work on legs and they wouldn't be so heavy :troll:

instantneedles 07-16-2012 09:06 AM

I thot the regular chuck taylor is supposed to be really light.... I definetly wouldnt use it for cardio, but it would be awesome to do my lifts with em.. Squats especially

G-spec 07-16-2012 09:12 AM

gotta jump in and tell you guys who sweat a lot and are into dri fit stuff, don't buy Nike's new dri fit shirts, they are absolute garbage, I have nike dri fit shirts from 10 years ago that perform way better than what they're selling nowadays.

Nike has gone green and is making most of their dri fit stuff now from minimum 70% + recycled waterbottles, and the result is horrible, the shirts don't evaporate sweat nearly as well as before it's a fcking mess. for example After a full night of basketball my Lance Armstrong LiveStrong dri fit cutoff was literally lookin like I had dipped it in a pool, not one spot on it was dry...

some professional sports teams across the world have refused to wear these

Matlock 07-16-2012 02:46 PM

Chuck Taylor hi-tops are really light and the soles are firm and flat. Which makes them good for squatting and especially good for deadlifting.

If you think they're heavy, well that doesn't matter because your foot should be planted during squats and deadlifts.

On the deadlift you want a sole the is firm and flat, not squishy and not raised on any part of the foot.

Is there anything special about real Chuck Taylors? No. They are simple, but expensive for what they are just because Converse is owned by Nike. Knock offs or fake ones from China would do the same thing for a fraction of the price.

Barefoot does just as well if your place of training allows.

dhari 07-16-2012 02:59 PM

I got a pair of Russel shorts from the BCIT shorts that I love to death. longer than soccer shorts and shorter than boarding style. not baggy and not tight. cost me like 20bucks as well.

RRxtar 07-16-2012 03:49 PM

Ill never wear Chuck's on principle since I cant stand the mentality they cater to with the majority of emo hipster phaggots who wear them.

G-spec 07-16-2012 03:57 PM

^
I find the fact that hipsters have hijacked that brand myself as repulsive as anyone, for the real og's who know what it really is, this is what Chucks are all about right here
(even casual sports fans should be able to recognize these two men)

Shorts - Adidas climacool or the SUPER light UA shorts
Shoes - UA

Comfy shorts and shoes are essentials for me, matched with whatever shitty t-shirts that I don't care about

What do you recommend for shirts if you sweat a lot, other than those 10 year old dri fits?

G-spec 07-18-2012 10:30 PM

^ I don't know, I haven't tried any other brand out there since I usually wear custom made basketball jerseys when I play sports.

Maybe these other guys can chime in who have tried Under Armor or Adidas Clima Cool stuff, I doubt it can be any worse than the new shit Nike is putting out....
it's funny how they actually even have the balls to charge more for it because it's "green" but in reality is even cheaper to make than before

gabi 07-18-2012 10:35 PM

anyone know where to find Gasp stuff locally? I'm hesistant to buy online unless I know how it fits

rageguy 07-19-2012 08:11 PM

Top: UA Combine sleeveless. It's very light and very breathable. It's considered regular fit so it is not tight. Very comfy.
Bottom: UA Microshorts 2. It has pockets compared to the old ones and is also very light. It is short, almost reaches the knee. Perfect for gym.

korefitliving @ lougheed mall sells them. But like halogod said, the stuff fits big and is only for serious lifters that have alot of size on their frame... def go try it out though

Adidas Adipower lifting shoes are legit

Wykydtron 08-06-2012 08:05 PM

I run/trail run/grind etc in Vibram 5 fingers. Love them to death.

instantneedles 08-06-2012 10:14 PM

^how much were they? I've always thought of getting a pair for squatting and deadlifting, or lifting in general but never got to it haha

sas 08-10-2012 12:59 PM

The 2012 Adipower are the best Oly shoe I've had to date. Initially I was worried that with only 1 strap, my feet wouldn't feel secure and the shift away from the wood heel would not be as solid. I can you that, my feet have never felt more secure. The heel is incredible and literally locked in. For $136 and free shipping, it is a must buy if you guys squat regularly. Trust me, you will see PBs if you've been squatting with cross trainers. You will never go back. This is assuming you're high bar squatting. I'll admit that I prefer chucks for low bar PL squats.

The tongue also stays put - which was always an issue with the old Adistars which had a habit of shifting to either side. If I had to rank in order:

2012 Adipower
2008 Adistar
Nike Romaleo 1

http://www.mediafire.com/conv/46df57...5b1aa5114g.jpg

The heel is nearly identical. The Adistar heel is quite worn in this pic. I still like the carbon fiber finish. Many lifters commented on durability issues but I've had no issues. Training sessions are normally 2.5hrs 5-6x a week.

red_sir 08-10-2012 03:43 PM

Wow $136 is a really good price. If I only knew about that deal a few days ago... Just ordered a pair of Rogue weightlifting shoes. Thought the Adipowers were $200 and couldn't justify it for my needs.

sas 08-10-2012 06:33 PM

For everyone that is interested in the Adipowers for $136, you have 2 days to decide.
Go to: shopadidas.ca and enter in coupon code, "GOCANADAGO".

Again, even if you don't consider yourself a weightlifter, such a great shoe for squats. The Rogues are fine- they were actually my very first pair.
On a side note, what are the MISC shirts all about?
