Fix it, or fix it all? Hey guys, 2003 Protege 5 with 97,000 Kms on it. I think I need to replace the serpentine belts on it and possibly the alternator. It needs the timing belt done and water pump, etc etc to get done soon. Should I just get it all done at once? When do you guys get your p5 timing belts done? |
Doing it all at once could save you hundreds in the long run. As all of these parts have to come off to do the timing belt anyhow. |
Should do all the belts together at once, and any related parts that need inspection/replacement. Usually changing the timing belt requires a lot of the engine parts to be taken apart in order to reach it. Since parts are taken apart to do the timing belt, you may as well have them inspected and replace if necessary. If water pump is being done, you should get the radiator, the fan, the coolant hose, and all cooling related parts checked. Better be prepared than anything else right? :) |
