Smart Card

My smart card stopped working the other day. I tried replacing the battery and it still doesn't work. I called a local dealership and was told diagnosis was $108 and in case the smart card needs to be replaced, it will be 300 bucks. Is there any alternative for me other than getting it from the dealership? Or anybody here working for a dealership that could hep lessen the cost?
