Dude, that sucks! I would definitely file a complaint first and then get in contact with a lawyer and sue for damages. He was obviously harassing you; you barely broke any laws!
If you need a good lawyer, I know a guy on RevScene who had his lawyers work on a high profile case; Crown vs. Tiger Direct, you may have heard of it. These guys are big time and get results!!! Let me know if you want the info. Anything to help you get through this troublesome time. Just remember, YOU ARE THE VICTIM!
Stay strong and keep fighting the "good" fight!

Always show cop respect even though he ticket you. You must understand that they are doing procedures; it's their job. Yes, the first 2 lines the cop is going to say to you is gonna sound douchebag as well but that is also part of their training.
I remember being pulled for speeding, I speak to the officer politely, he returns with my ticket under 5mins (which is pretty fast normally). He also NOTE to me about paying within certain amount of time for "discount" then proceeded to tell me "Or you can just go ahead and dispute it".
So I did, court date mail never came so I assume he never filed it.
PS, just you show them respect, they show you respect. Sometimes you don't even know what these people go through in their everyday job.
PPS, I'm not on anybody side and sorry to hear about ur case

Gotta remember they get some Massive benefits/retirement benefits. I would gladly take a bit of pay cut for the benefits they receive..

I got a speeding ticket for going 5km above the speedzone and yes I have proof for when I dispute it. I thought it was mandatory for cops to give 5km leeway. I could see if it was like 10-15km. And there were other people doing 20-25km above the limit and getting away scott free!
This is where its gets even more pathetic. Honestly this cop was obviously trolling me. He see's I have my N license and asks me why I don't have my N sign mounted. Proceeds to give me another ticket for not displaying N sign which screw me over for trying to get my full license.
And to top it all off the cop was the biggest douchebag. Gave me attitude and was the smugest prick ever. Probably would given me another ticket if my break light went out.
Wanted to give the cop a middle finger but didn't know if it was legal or not so I didn't. Would have if I knew I could. So pissed off.
LOOKS LIKE I WILL BE DISPUTING THESE TICKETS. COP PROBABLY WONT SHOW EITHER. GONNA FILE A COMPLAINT TO HIS POLICE DEPARTMENT.
Wish I had video cam in my vehicle...
This by far was the worst moment of my life. This cop makes all cops in BC look bad!!!! | Quoted for prevention of ninja edits to hide stupidity.

They cap at 80k (FYI it only takes a few years too) and not many stay at entry level. Plus they get mounds of overtime if they want, most make ~90k if not more and their benefits are crazy good. Also note that I believe they just received like a 3/3/3 in their contract, so every year they will make another ~2-3K.
I consider that well paid considering their is very minimal post secondary education and a medium level risk job.
But I guess its all relative.

I always carry two things with me; my business card and my lawyers business card. Lets face it, there are corrupt cops out on the streets who pray on law abiding citizens for no apparent reason and sometimes you need to put these cops in their place by showing them that they can't troll you and violate your rights because they "feel" like pulling you over and giving you a hard time.
And I agree with the poster about showing respect, I've had my front windows tinted for years on various cars and I've never received a ticket, just warnings. Why? Because I'm nice and don't give attitude, same goes for speeding, can't tell you how many times I've gotten off but that been said I've had a couple cops who pulled me over for no reason, they couldn't even give me a reason why they pulled me over and they were pretty nasty when asked why. So yah, you just have to be smart about the situation.

lol i dont get why op is trying to justify him breaking the law, and blame it on the cop. If he wasn't talking shit to the cop and sowed some respect he probable would of got off with a warning... i got pulled over for going 140 in a 80 km zone (the highway going up to cypress) once the cop was like i could of impound your car but because i didnt talk shit he gave me a 140$ speeding ticket and a warning for not displaying me N.

So yah, you just have to be smart about the situation. | Any driver, in any vehicle, can be pulled over at any time, on any street, for a number of reasons under law:
-check the driver's licence, sobriety, registration and insurance of the vehicle, and mechanical fitness of the vehicle etc. i'm not sure what you think you're lawyers business card is going to do for you in this situation. For a regular traffic stop your rights to contact a lawyer are not immediate and are delayed because it's reasonable, unlike other detentions.

He never said he whips out the business card EVERY TIME and WHENEVER he gets pulled over. I don't think anyone would have a problem showing an officer that they're legally licensed to drive or that they aren't driving a stolen car...
