By shifter leak I hope they're talking about Rear Main Seal, pretty much a good idea to do this while doing oil pan is dropped since their all in the same vicinity

PPI or not, these are common wear and tear items on a BMW of that age. It boils down on who ends up picking up the tab.

Nixon has been good to me in the past and would recommend them again.
