Shameless plug for one of my bikes I'm trying to sell --
RS: http://www.revscene.net/forums/70164...08-klr650.html
CL: 2008 Kawasaki KLR650 KLR

I'd really, really appreciate it if you guys asked your friends/family/Facebook/anyone if they'd be interested.
It's already one of the best deals on Craigslist, and I'm sure I'd get more bites if it wasn't February but I need it gone within two weeks so I can buy my next toy.
Willing to entertain offers of course, price is by no means set.

Thanks!

Dragon-88 02-24-2015 12:13 PM

Whats your next toy?

BillyBishop 02-24-2015 09:58 PM

I'm sure someone will figure it out from this picture.

Exchange rate is killing me right now... hoping the CAD spikes next week when I trade for USD. Importing it from USA

triumph tr6? the interior looks just like my friends gt6

BillyBishop 02-24-2015 10:09 PM

Spitfire actually! The GT6+ is what I was really looking for but I came across this for a great price considering its condition. And, come to think of it, I'm not sure how my 6'2" frame would fare in the hardtop lol, haven't sat in a GT6 before.

got my date for class 6 road test (march 22nd) so i figured i better start finishing some of the other touches on my bike. took off a few plastic pieces to respray in trim black. removed the tank to spray. also checked the air filter and cleaned the airbox. the throttle bodies are beautifully clean. shine a light down into them and you can see the valve stem seals have some oil and combustion guck on them, but hey, almost 22,000km. theres gonna be some grime.

?? I thought you wanted to have a black bike with fluorescent wheels?

320icar 02-27-2015 10:03 PM

i very much prefer the really classic blue/white suzuki colours. my original fairings had scratches and cracks from 10 years of use. so i figure have fun with this set while im still learning to ride. probably drop it at some point then get the new set of fairings.

but yeah but before the spring meet i'll defnitely have stage 2 complete.

do you guys ride with your swingarm spools on your bike?

i did before, but one of them fell off last year somehow so now i'm paranoid about losing another one...

bananana 03-01-2015 11:56 PM

It wasn't too bad because we have winter gear for the colder days but the coldest we've ever done was a sunny day last year when we tried to go to Manning park. Unfortunately it was 0 degrees when we left in the morning and we only managed to make it to Hope before turning around because we knew it would only get colder as the altitude climbed.

Thanks, I'm heading to that area to pick up my bike right now

Armind 03-03-2015 08:22 AM

What's a good beginners bike? Was hoping for an r6 or gsxr but damn. Not gonna happen after my budgeting :(

radioman 03-03-2015 08:29 AM

The general answer you'll get is those are NOT beginner bikes.

Try looking at 250s. Hell I might be selling my sv650 for cheap soon if you're still looking for a bike.

Raid3n 03-03-2015 08:58 AM

Armind:
even the SV is kind of pushing it.

i know of a low km ninja 250 that would be great as a starter that my friend is selling if you want me to put you in touch..

other option is buy an old standard bike, they are ugly as sin but usually dirt cheap (read: <1000$)

starting on a 600 i personally don't think you learn anything significant.
sure you can ride, but you're always riding it at like 30%.
with a 250 or something similar, you can thrash the bike and still be within a reasonable margin of safety.

320icar:
I would report the car to the city if you got its plate #. it looks like a street cleaner pushed the oil down the street, and it's clearly coming from the silver car.

-snail trail to where its parked
-flat tire
-oil puddle under nose of the car

... looks like they smoked something real good and tore open the oil pan maybe?

Armind 03-03-2015 09:10 AM

Thanks guys. But first, I gotta find time and register for my classes once it gets a bit warmer :D

something cheap that you dont give a fuck if you lay it down a few times. its the sad truth. i had my little kawasaki 100cc bike to learn on, as well as my girlfriends almost 30 year old gsxr-400. easy riding position, throttles are not as responsive. clutch is usually more forgiving. brakes aren't as crazy powerful.

i jumped on to my gsxr-600 pretty damn quick, and i would not recommend that for everyone. you have to have a lot of self control, and know about what you are riding.

raiden is totally on the ball when he says you only ride at about 30% of your ability. with so much power and the size of these bikes, you never really know what kind of lean in angles you can take, how hard you can hammer the brakes before they lock up or how much throttle will make the rear end break loose. add to that inexperience on the road and it becomes a dangerous cocktail.
