I would have 'em painted if I were you. Plastidip won't last very long on a set of forks with all the beating they normally get.

I think I'll anodize them eventually but I plan on insuring at the next sign of sun so it won't be happening this year. I did Plastidip them and to be honest I didn't do the best job, good from far but far from good. That said, they look better black IMO.

They should change the SC Project font into a coca-cola styled one.

Hoping this is the right place to ask this.

Trying to buy a gift for someone who is starting their lessons in a month, what would be a good present for someone who is just starting to get into riding?

I originally thought of a helmet but after looking at threads here and online, it seems it's a pretty personal thing, so I was thinking a gift card? But then some of you say local will match online / online is better, so unsure of where to buy a gift card from..

Know absolutely nothing about bikes, just want to get an amazing gift. (Within a reasonable budget.. a few hundred and under is okay.)

Thanks for the help knowledgeable riders :)

underscore 03-24-2016 12:16 PM

Instead of a gift card to one place, why not give them a home made gift certificate saying "good for one helmet" or what have you? That way they can pick out exactly what they want from any retailer.

kchan 03-24-2016 01:09 PM

id get that mid pipe cut shorter so the exhaust doesnt stick out as much - would look so sick

Throw in some bluray copies of Faster, Fastest and Hitting the Apex for bonus points.

Never thought of that, just might be the winning idea.

Had no idea what that was until about 20 seconds ago. As someone who knows nothing about any of this, I would be interested in watching.

Thank you guys for the suggestions!

^

it depends on your budget as well

if you dont mind spending $600+ then get him enrollment to a riding school like pacific riding school

will do him a lot more good than gear by educating him how to ride safe etc.

ciel 03-24-2016 08:29 PM

Unfortunately his lessons are paid for and arranged already :( Though, knowing that the entire duration of lessons costs $600+ would have probably been out of my budget. A couple of hundred is probably my maximum.

Thank you so much for suggesting though! Still open to any other suggestions others may have.

zilley 03-24-2016 09:26 PM

just get him gloves.

Agreed. Good helmets are pretty pricey ($500+) but for a few hundred bucks you can easily get some pretty amazing top of the line gloves.

Look for full-gauntlet race gloves with Kangaroo palms, knuckle protectors and palm sliders.

I wear RS-Taichi gloves (they're great) but also check out Dianese, Alpinestars, KNOX, Spidi, and REV'IT.
