A couple of observations about ergonomics first because those are things that you will notice right away... this might be more useful than talking specifications, which you can read about online anyways:

-the bikes is fairly tall and the seat height is a little higher than you will find versus many of its 600cc-class Japanese competitors
-the clip-ons sit lower than you will find on most competitors, resulting in a fairly aggressive riding position
-the foot-pegs are marginally higher than most bikes

Knowing this now I would strongly you encourage you to put some mileage on the bike before buying it to ensure that it's comfortable for your personal frame. It's not unusual for owners to raise the clip-ons (many kits exist) and get a lower seat. I have done neither but continually debate doing so.

The 675cc three-cylinder motor is spectacular. The nature of the engine means that there is plenty of toque available at lower engine speeds. This translates into much greater light-to-light enjoyment as you aren't required to rev the engine into the atmosphere to get back to traffic speeds.

The only other thing that I would add is regarding the handling. The bike's turn-in is immediate and likely faster than you may have experienced in the past. Be prepared.

The 675R adds some nice jewelry, including Ohlins suspension components, Brembo brakes at the front and some nice carbon fibre bits.

Note that there are two distinctly different variants of the 675R:

-the 2011 - 2012 model, which is based on a refreshed version of the original generation (introduced in 2006, refreshed for 2009)
-the 2013+ model

Both are great bikes but the 2013+ edition sports a heavily revised motor, frame, swing arm, sub-frame and styling.

Don't expect significant additional power from the 675R versus the normal 675.

Happy shopping!

I can agree to this - I'm on a 2016 Daytona 675 and the riding position is quite aggressive. IMO all is forgiven when you give it some throttle though:D

If you're looking for a basic maintenance course, PRS has 2 single day courses now and then. I can't recall the cost, but it didn't seem excessive.

PRS just announced that they will be holding a maintenance course on March 25/17. Call them to register.

Could anyone point me in a direction where I could pick up a new exhaust clamp?
I've already tried Lordco and rather not order from eBay and wait 3 months for it to come from China.

which Lordco did you try?
not all of them have the T-Bolt clamps, but try calling ahead.
I bought them at Lordco Bridgeview.
The Richmond one probably has it.

I ordered some clamps off Amazon and they showed up fairly quick.

I've tried lordco on main in north van.

Just curious, what size did you order? I'm after one that is 1 3/4".

!e.lo_ 03-06-2017 02:52 PM

They had them on the shelf. I just grabbed whatever I needed. Not sure what size it was...
I think they would be able to just order it in for you

DIEH4RD 03-06-2017 03:38 PM

Thanks for the insight. Got directed to greenline from the person at Lordco. Found what I needed.

I'm just wondering since its almost about time to insure again. How much Liability do you guys get for your insurance? Do you guys know if you get comprehensive and collision at icbc do they cover gear? as well as which place do you guys go for your beacon insurance?

604STIG 03-10-2017 11:07 AM

I'm pretty sure ICBC does NOT cover any gear. Beacon does and I go through HUB International for it.

!e.lo_ 03-10-2017 02:31 PM

Only get basic from ICBC
If you have enough driving and riding experience, it's cheaper to go through a third party.
Try BCAA, Megson Fitzpatrick, Beacon, Cassells Insurance, Coast Capital....

whitev70r 03-10-2017 02:39 PM

Frankly speaking insurance is getting so expensive ... >$80 a month for a 650cc bike! I'm assuming most people don't take their cars off insurance while their bike is insured (I don't) so you're hit twice but technically can either ride or drive one or the other.

Jas29 03-10-2017 06:56 PM

I only get basic on my Cbr

I pay $260 full discount with roadstar on my 1000. $100 for a Ninja 300. $80 sounds like a pretty damn good deal to me.

Any good videos on navigating through curves?

Watched twist of the wrist, and that was great.

I do basic through ICBC and optional insurance through Megson Fitzpatrick. The optional through them is nice because even though I cancel my basic I'm covered through the winter for theft and fire.

847cc I pay around $8X.00 a month for my basic and $380.00 a year for the optional.

Track days, Live viewing, live instructors, and best of all live knowledge, They can help you while you're riding and tell you what you're doing wrong. Videos dont do that..
