Another question,

Anyone here increase their life insurance, where did you get it from? Thinking about bumping mines up from work, unfortunately, there's a maximum and it isn't much.

And how much you're paying?

Days like today and yesterday are giving me the itch to get back on the road.
But I could only afford to insure either my bike or my truck right now. Gotta make myself hold out one more month.

I was just telling my wife years past I would have been insured already riding in 0 degree weather as long as it's not raining. I've turned into such a pussy, when I step outside and feel the temperature I can't even think about insuring. Probably at least another 2-3 weeks for me.

That's exactly how I feel now too. There was a time when weather wasn't even a factor, just as long as I was on 2 wheels. I used my rain suit 1 time last season and that was purely out of necessity, I didn't have any vehicle available to me that day. I miss the days of having care free fun.

That why I love my 125cc bike. The cost to insure for the year is the price of 2-3 monthly bus passes.

Typically your work coverage isn't that great as when you leave you lose it or have to convert it to a non-guaranteed premium product.

Like the above poster mentiond you can find advisors like IG but its always best to find someone who isn't tied to 1 or 2 insurance companies like IG is and go with someone who is independent.

Also if you're worried about how motorycle riding impacts your rate it will typically only play a factor if you're doing timed events.

*I'm a licensed advisor so feel free to PM me for details

For the road test,

In the lane positioning, I'm reading in the book, that sometimes in a multi-lane, you should be in position 3? Is that what you did on the test?

And right turns, you went from p3 to p3? or p3 to p1?

You should always be in position 1 unless your going up a hill, or right turns, change lane position from 1 to 3. Also if your in the left lane and coming to an intersection you should change to lane 3 because of left turners

on the road test, please for the love of god shoulder check like your life depended on it

Edit: best bet is to take the lane position most safe

Fast lane P3, slow lane P1. Reason being is you increase visibility and you maintain a dominant presence. lane changing is alot quicker too.
When turning, regardless of the direction, be in the inside position closest to where you are going, then arrive in your respective lane position.
And K4rl already mentioned it, but constantly shoulder check changing lanes, turning, even stopping. once you passed your test, just trust
your best judgement for awareness, but it's one of the most important aspects of your test.

Is there an adult response to my question somewhere out there?
Is there that much of a difference between beacon and other third party insurance providers?

Well I don't know why you're paying $600 from Beacon.
I'm paying $421 for a year from Meagson Fitzpatrick.
Bike valued $5500 and gear coverage $1500.

When you apply for Beacon insurance do they approve you right away or do you have to wait a couple of days for the application to go through?

I'm guessing it must have something to do with the bike you ride and your previous history? I insure my 06 R6 and my Beacon coverage is around the $400 mark (It might actually be $360 as well, don't remember exact number from last year)

When I applied the first time they sent in my paperwork in the morning and I had a response by the afternoon. Anytime I do a renewal now it's just your regular straight forward paperwork, no need to re-apply.

Just got my quote from beacon for my 06 r6. $407 with bike value at $6500 and 2k gear coverage.

I wonder how they get numbers as some of you guys seem to pay more for less.
